    Eric-

AOL won't fix the problem for you. AOL moved the Community Action Team to Bangalore India so you have a snowballs chance in hell of getting your problem resolved. The best move is for GT members to leave AOL.

You can try to email the AOL Community Action at the following address:

    tosgeneral@aol.com
    tosgen5@aol.com

    Good luck..

I don't mean to be ugly but as far as I'm concerned, anyone that uses AOL just deserved what they get. AOL has been rabidly anti-gun since forever and people justify using it because they get "free-trial" CD's and stuff in the mail. Many people, knowingly or not, wind up patronizing AOL in some way even if they just tell their friends to use the free trial installation. Someone, sometime is going to forget to "unsubscribe" and let their CC get charged or buy something that they advertise or something that in some way benefits AOL.
    NOTHING IS FREE!!

I would ask anyone that is currently using AOL or CompuServe to leave them ASAP and get one of the other free or cheap services.

AOL is like a needy woman with abandoment issues, or a cult take your pick.

Once you try their free hours and decide you dont like AOL, you have a daunting task ahead. You have to fire a shot across their bow before they accept NO for an answer.

Had them once. Never again! It took an act of congress to get rid of them. A terrible ISP in my opinion. Ever notice all the software that has exceptions for AOL?

Hehehe, I taped some up at a local range and they got upset for me littering! AOhelL is not the internet, it is a giant BBS trying to imitate the internet.

I stay with AOL because it is one of the perks I get from work.....it's free.......

I however would not pay for it.......it is overpriced and I am on the web more and I don't use AOL's features that much........

I wouldn't stay with AOL if they paid me to do so. I spent most of a year trying to get past being disconnected and they were no help whatever. I complained to one "tech support" that her advice was just canned stuff and didn't solve the problem.

Her answer - and this is the exact quote, "YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE STEPS THAT I HAVE GIVEN YOU ON EMAIL SINCE THAT ARE THE FIX, IF YOU DO NOT DO THEM, YOUR PROBLEM WILL NOT GET FIX!!!"

I think most fourth graders would write a better sentence than that. She then blocked receiving any further Emails from me!! Hard to understand how they can do that on any tech support for any company you pay for service.

Hard to understand how they stay in business. Their answer to any problem you have with their "service" is to blame your computer. They even sent me out an AOL modem to install with the promise that would solve the problems with disconnects. That, after I told them I didn't want their modem!!!

Actually, as one who has worked as a phone rep for a major credit card issuer, I can say that it's already happened many, many times. AOL is one of the companies we most frequently get "I told them to cancel and they're still billing me!" complaints from. This is not just from people who enrolled in the free period, but also from people who have been paying customers and, upon canceling, were still billed for a month or more.

Never having had any personal experience with them I can't say for a certainty, but I know based on what I've heard, I'd never trust AOL.

    Regards,
    Justin.
