Not long after a “senior Trump administration official” published an anonymous opinion editorial in The New York Times on Wednesday, bookies immediately began placing bets on who could have written the anti-Trump piece.

According to MyBookie head oddsmaker David Strauss, the betting markets currently say Vice President Mike Pence is leading offshore bookmaking picks as the White House source for the Times op-ed.

Strauss said Pence was listed at 2-to-3 odds as the official who wrote the anonymous anti-Trump hit piece. He also revealed that Pence is currently leading the betting markets because in the op-ed, the word “lodestar” appears. Strauss says no other Trump administration official, aside from Pence, has used that word in a speech this year.

“What tipped us off was ‘lodestar.’ When you search members of the administration (who have used that word) only one name comes up – and that name is Mike Pence. He’s used in multiple speeches this year.”

The markets also show that “the field” — meaning someone not listed among the “top” 18 administration officials — is currently listed at 1-to-3 odds.

As noted by New York Post, here are the full betting odds on other officials who might be the source behind the Times piece:

The other 17 named potential moles, listed by MyBookie, are:

    Education Secretary Betsy Devos (2-to-1)

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (4-to-1)

    Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin (4-to-1)

chief of staff John F. Kelly (4-to-1)

    Defense Secretary Jim Mattis (5-to-1)

    Attorney General Jeff Sessions (5-to-1)

    Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke (6-to-1)

    Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue (6-to-1)

    Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross (7-to-1)

    Labor Secretary Alex Acosta (7-to-1)

    HHS Secretary Alex Azar (8-to-1)

    HUD Secretary Ben Carson (8-to-1)

    VA Secretary Robert Wilkie (8-to-1)

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen (10-to-1)

Ivanka Trump (12-to-1) and Jared Kushner (12-to-1).

It’s anyone’s guess at this point who might have written the op-ed, but it has sent shock waves throughout Washington, D.C.

On Wednesday, the Times published an op-ed, titled, “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.”

The anonymous author, which the Times claims it will not reveal their identity amid fears they will be fired, claims they work for the president, but arrogantly writes that they and other “like-minded colleagues … have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.”

My money is on someone at the Times who made it up out of whole cloth. Basically a Hail Mary play of fake news.

As Kavanaugh heads toward certain confirmation, and the nothingburger that Mueller becomes clear, the hysteria from the left is racheting up.

But this is nothing compared to what is coming approaching the mid-terms.

    Complete nonsense.

Pence would NEVER do this, under ANY circumstance.

Anyone who even remotely entertains the idea does not know ANYTHING about Pence.

I say none of the above. My vote is Bob Woodward. The same confidential sources he used in his book: his own fertile mind.

They are basing that on speeches from Pence. One problem, he doesn't write those speeches.

Since it could no longer be Omarosa, my money (if I had any) is on a low-level minority female assistant to a lesser cabinet member.

The part about admitting that some of Trump's policies have actually been beneficial to the country may only be an attempt to gain credibility so maybe even Republicans will believe her (again, assuming it's a female). After all, if Trump's policies are working, why be so adamant about destroying him and getting rid of him?

Good point, maybe it's Pence's speechwriter (or one of his speechwriters)? We'll probably find out soon enough. I believe anyone does something like is hoping for a huge payday.

If there "is" a source, they could write their own blank check by coming out. Instant hero to the left, the media and the never-Trumpers. Yuge payday!!

"............ And guess what? Suppose the op-ed is a total construction by the New York Times – it also proves the existence of the Deep State. For the fact is, the Deep State is not an individual, it is a cabal of people and entities who are determined to overthrow the results of a legitimate election, and to remove a president who was voted into office by millions who wanted Donald Trump to drain the swamp.

The swamp or Deep State, is actually comprised of the so-called mainstream media (MSM) such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, MSNBC, CNN and so on down the line.

The MSM is of course not alone. You also have the Democrat Party which has become openly socialist, with nutjobs such as Maxine Waters who were calling for Trump’s impeachment before he was even sworn into office.

Then finally, you have the Washington establishment, made up of long time bureaucrats of both parties. This includes way too many Obama holdovers as well at the FBI, CIA and all throughout the Justice Department..............."

Pence in his denial gave a excuse.

When people give you more info than asked for somethings up.

and I also wouldn't be surprised if this was a democrat plot to trigger Trump, and frame his VP to further obstruct this administration.

I'll take Kelly for $10. Why? Because of the "off the rails" comment.

Don't think it was Pence despite the use of "lodestar". Why? Because he is the one person that Trump can't fire. If he wanted to say this he would not need to conceal his identity.

My money is that it wasn't a member of the administration and was either made up by a summer intern or a NYT reporter.
