I once had a DPMS AP4 308, very accurate, but very heavy. Kinda want another 308 AR, who makes a nice, light weight version? Is the DPMS Gen II the light weight standard, or is there something better?
If the answer is "build one", what components?
For price and weight, the S&W MP10 at around 8 lbs is probably a good choice. They use a light barrel, but it still seems to be very accurate for around $1100. All my AR10's are piston so they are at 9lb or more.
PSA makes one for around $600, but they are listed at 10lbs.
