Just a fact check: are any agencies being issued 35s? If so, who?
I think that the lack of post answers your question.
Several police units have been issued 35s. Don't know the units, but Summit arms was offering some police trade in 35s recently.
Kentucky State Police switched from the G20 to the G35 a year ago.
Just for S&G I called Glock and talked to a really nice fellow who said that he can't look up specific models anymore due to the enormous volume of Glocks purchased by various agencies, etc. He could only say with any certainty that most of the 35s for issue are for various SWAT arsenals. Not that this is some big revelation, but I thought it might be of interest...
Makes sense. If you are going to carry in a thigh holster might as well get the longer barrel and sight radius.
It's just not that big, compares closely to a 5" 1911 in size. Easy to carry IWB if you like.
I had an older glock catalog that listed several agencies that had switched to the G35, its less common, but they are being used for standard patrol guys
You wouldn't happen to have any specifics would you? I'm kinda curious. I mean, as jungle said, they're not much bigger than the 1911, which has been a standard for so long.
I will dig the issue out and get back to you. My agency told me that i could use my G35, but they aren't buying any new guns right now and the standard issus is G22. The G35 is perfect in my opinion, it is the same size as a 1911, my other favorite gun. it is not oversize and is very easy to work with. hosters are available from many companies, especially safariland, they list several models for the G35, like the 6280 for the M3 light.
Escondido PD in Escondido, CA issues the G35 w/ M3 light and 6280 holster. You also have the choice of the G23 or Sig P226 (.40) w/ M3 light.
along with the already mentioned Kentucky SP, is the Kerville texas city police with 47 sworn, are issued G35's and there is also mention of the Helsinki PD using them, where ever in the helsinki that is.
a lot of agencies swat teams use either the G34 or G35, our tri-county swat team uses both. hope this helps.
Thanks for taking the time Smokecloud.
Shot with some Brevard County Fl guys at Blackwater that had G35s. Made me want one.
There are two guys on my SWAT team that were issued the 35's (two different departments). The rest of their departments, I beleive use 22's. I am currently issued a 22 but may use my personal 35 for SWAT.
Similiar story here, we're issued G22/23s, but G35s are authorized.
I remember when the G24 first came out, there was talk of using them for "tactical" stuff. But I've never seen any duty holsters for it, and the G35 has taken that role since then........
For what it's worth, it took a month or two for Safariland to deliver a 070 holster for my G35.
Not really "issued", but 2 folks on our team are using G35's and I carry my G24. Everyone else has those stubby sight-radius-challenged G22's and G23's. Sad, really. ;f
Not issued, but I carry the G34 in a safariland 6280 with the surefire X200.
I looked at Safariland's fit chart and they didn't show a 6280 w/ X200 for the G34/35. Do they have this now, or are you using the 6280 w/ M3 for it?
surefire fits all m3 holsters correctly, no need to list them separately
I just got a 6280 for my G22/X200 today. (6280-836-131) I have been carrying in a 6280 made for the G22/M3 and it fit, but it rattled a bit. Much nicer now.
Safariland just returned my email: "Hello, in regard to your e-mail, No at this time we are only manufacturing for the M3 & M6 for the Glock 35."
Too bad these take a month or more to get.
