i dont really watch that much hockey but it seems that their is more fighting nowadays then actual pay time..

players are getiing knocked out, one got his finger cut off,and i saw a vid last night where a ref got hs nose busted by a player..

they should let the NFL handle suspensions ..that would clean the sport up

I dont think the fans are against the fighting, hell thats why a lot of them go.

I hear they hit each other in boxing, and MMA. maybe we should start suspending them too.

Without the fighting, what would be the point of hockey?

I don't hockey has a problem with fighting. It is part of the game and they have rules that deal with it to the extent needed.

There is MUCH less fighting to day than there was 20 years ago. They stopped most of it for around 8-10 years and the NHL figured out it just wasn't as much fun.

Its what keeps the game honest. Being able to stand up for your fellow teammates is what it is for. There are harsh penalties for people that instigate it on purpose, and for those that jump in as a 3rd mman.

This. Its part of the game, which seems to keep a lot of cheap shots and garbage out of the game. I think a lot of sports would be different if players knew they would be squaring up bare knuckled against the teams "fighter" if they took cheap shots.

I don't know, but I'm not one of them.
Really this whole PC BS is beyond any stupid those days.
    You don't like hockey?
    Don't watch the game.
    It's that simple.
No one is forced to watch it and the players are well paid to risk a bruise once in a while.

That's an absurd point. Fighting majors were very near an all time low this year.

Torres got a 25 game suspension for his cheap shot on Marion Hossa issued just today.

You guys ever watch the movie "Slapshot"? If not, you gotta see it :)

Based on real players from minor leagues in the 70's :)

I would watch hockey if they were out there in cowboy boots and crutches, with brooms instead of hockey sticks. Oh, and get rid of the goalie so it isn't a 1 to nothing game. Other than that, hockey and fighting are o.k.

It keeps hockey interesting. Every team makes it to the playoffs, so let them fight along the way there.

Best hockey game I ever watched was one in which a player was sent to the penalty box for fighting, when the opposing player he fought with came skating nearby the penalty box to get the puck during the game, the penalized player reached out with his stick, drug him over to the wall, and started to lay-into-him.

    It was hilarious!

I'm not a hockey fan but the few times I've watched it I was hoping for a fight.

Fighting is a huge part of hockey games. People get hurt, but it's all minor. Both sides throw a couple punches and it all gets broken up, then they sit in the box for 5 mins and it's all over. Not like that cheap shot Torres took on Hossa that took him out of the game on a backboard. That wasn't even a fight, that was a cheap shot well after the whistle and he aimed for Hossa's head. There was no accident there. He deserves his 25 game suspension. Maybe he'll figure it out next season.
