And by good I mean can bang out a message using T9 pretty fast. Myself I'm lost without the keyboard on my phone. I work with a couple guys that can whip out complete paragraphs in no time flat, without looking, using T9. But I just can't get the hang of it.:dunno:

Nor does he have a "shift" key or a spellchecker.

    So don't mind him.

I can text without looking at the keys while keeping eye contact with someone else and keep track of that conversation as well. But my daughter has me beat... She can text on two phones at the same time (hers and one of her friends) without looking at the keys and talk on the landline as well... Now if I can only get her to do her chores with the same precision I'd be a happy camper...

it used to annoy my ex to no end, she could text me war and peace (like the entire novel) in under 30 seconds, but it'd take me 20 minutes to get back to her with "damnit just call me woman. ****!!"

    lol

My phone has touchscreen T9 and a slideout keyboard. I can't text for crap with the touchscreen. But I'm really good with the keyboard.

I can type faster with the T9 typing on the number pad than I can with the internal keypad. I have the EnV3:

I've never sent a text message in my life. I wouldn't know how to send one if I had to.

I hate t9. Never gives me the right word.

I have a droid though and the keyboard is taking a little getting used to. I had a LG Voyager before hand and with how big the keys were on the keyboard I could text in my sleep if I wanted to.

    Dad, is that you?

Yes, I can text pretty fast but I have a qwerty keyboard on my Tmobile Dash.
When I had a normal flip phone I was slow to medium speed.

Well, this post, along with pretty much all my posts on GT is being typed by my thumbs on my iPhone.
I text and email. If you want something you'd better contact me that way because I detest talking on the phone.
I even bypassed my phone's native voicemail for google so that it transcribes and emails voicemail to me so I can read it.
I guess I'm pretty good at it.
I know I make some mistakes sometimes, but I also do when I'm typing fast on a keyboard, and at least the iPhone is generally smart enough to fix my typos automatically.

When I had my RAZR with T9 I was pretty good, too, but I think it's accurate to say I can type with the full qwerty touchscreen keyboard faster than my parents can type on a real keyboard.

    To each his own.

I can text a lot faster with my standard number pad phone than I can on my wife's full keyboard phone. I don't have problems with other keyboard phones, but hers is shaped really awkwardly.

I was pretty fast with T9 once I had it trained. Not so much with the T9 workalikes that were always different in some subtle but highly important way.

I haven't looked back since I got my iPhone, though.

On my iPhone I can type around 35 words per minute with the landscape keyboard. I am posting from my phone right now actually.

I used to love my dash. I could type on that thing like crazy. Mine was the one before the 3g dash. It only got edge network. Now I use a g1...and most of my posts are done with it. Even when I'm home I go on the wifi with my g1 instead of getn on the computer to get online.

Texting with t9....wasn't for me. Even when I had a razr I still turned the t9 off and just went thru the numbers. At the time it was easy to memorize how many taps on which number gives you a certain letter. Easier for me anyways.
