Anyone see he got bumped from Southwest today?? (A former gaseous member emailed me about it.)

Allegedly, it wasn't because he couldn't get the seatbelt on OR that the flight was full. He was bumped b/c he was a "safety risk."

I can only imagine the pilot thought he might bite it at 30,000 feet.

    Thoughts?

Taking part in a dead pool is too morbid for my taste but I hope Kevin Smith doesn't let his size kill him. I remember when John Candy died and that was sad that he couldn't get his weight under control.

I once had a manager who could barely get the seatbelt extension to fit when he flew. I can imagine when he approached a gate at the airport, everyone on that flight started praying that he wouldn't sit next to them.

He knows he is fat, I mean, obese, and he knows the health dangers from it. But don't get between him and food, and don't expect any conversation at dinner because he literally jams food in his mouth non stop as fast as he can until he is full. It's a disgusting sight to behold. But it's his life, and that's the way he lives it. I suspect the same with Kevin Smith, whoever he is.

I just find the "safety risk" thing odd. He's big. MUCH bigger than he's been. But not "bumped from Southwest" big. And he had just gotten off a plane. I have to assume it was health, not size, related.

Hope he's OK, but this was odd.

IIRC, he's got young kids. And sadly is a sell-out to the Leno show in recent years. :(

It was one of those toilets that hangs off the wall. I guess to help clean under them easier. I'm a big guy working on becoming a less big guy. They seem to support my weight, but am always uneasy about sitting on them for long.

Eh, those might be a little easier to break. Still, I'm betting it requires a heckuva lotta weight to pull those off the wall.

Of course, this assumes the thing was installed correctly and not cracked or otherwise defective before he settled down on it.

Agreed. Not to defend the guy (cause he is heavy, no doubting that), but one thing about those toilets, even though they might support x amount of weight (trying to find what x could be), that weight is somewhat meaningless since a good number of people (particular big ones) are going to "plop" down (so to speak) on said toilet. Be it because of their knees or just it being low hanging.

And plopping momentarily adds to the "X" you put on it. Multiple "plops" can easily add up to stress fractures. Which means sooner or later, someone at or near "X" is going to be sitting on the floor in {HOPEFULLY CLEAN} toilet water.

John Popper admitted on the Stern show that he once broke a wall mounted terlit (Archie Bunker), that should be a wake up call. I like Kevin Smith and his work so hope he tackles his weight issue. Also death pools are fun.
