Lately I’ve been on a stainless steel kick in my gun interests. Who else thinks Stainless Steel is Sexy?

I like stainless. I like blued. They’re both good for me

I like stainless a lot! I'm partial to stainless revolvers, pistols and rifles.

Handsome array of stainless pieces, A-Train.

To each his own. I’ve never understood the point of a shiny gun. Every weapon I own is blued/black.

I mean, they look nice but I don’t have any guns “for looking at.” I have towels my wife puts in the hall bathroom for that purpose.

I think stainless is great except for 1911's. I will never buy another stainless 1911 and I've had several brands. YMMV.

As a welder fabricator, stainless steel has always been my favorite material to work with, and yes, I consider it to be a very sexy material. And as far as firearms are concerned, there's no better material that as easily lends itself to being restored back to it's original condition with patience, and the proper abrasives, glass bead, or polish. The same cannot be said of any blued, parkerized, nickel plated, Cerakoted, or anodized aluminum firearm.

Below are two stainless examples that I recently restored, the Ruger from abuse and neglect, and the Tanfoglio from unexpected rust from mere handling this past summer...

I like stainless, especially high polished stainless, I like nickeled guns, I like parkerized guns, and I like blued guns. I've seen a few hard-chromed guns that looked OK but mostly stainless looks better.

Hard chrome is just too flat and dull looking. Nickel is the best looking because it's a warm color, but it isn't as practical as stainless.

But I hate two-tone guns, especially revolvers. The only thing that looks good in two-tone are certain 1950's cars.

I kinda miss my S&W Chief Special 38cal. I kept it loaded with Remington 67gr (?) Super-Vel semi-jacketed hollow points.

My wife had it actually, and she kept it in her purse.... and this was SoCal when a woman was okay with a self protection pistol.

For some odd reason the 4506 and 4516 in stainless were awesome but the Colt Rail Gun in stainless was so-so. A Springfield MILSPEC in Stainless is not appealing to me but in parkerized is spectacular. A 686 in stainless is ok but a 629 is repugnant. I have no explanation. Some people like Broccoli, Some people like Asparagus.

If you spend any time on boats in the salt water, a blue gun will need to be cleaned almost every day, stainless not so much...

I never apply any form of the words "sex" or "love" to firearms discussions. That's the way Liberals think of us: people who love firearms or can't get aroused without them. I'll stay away from that terminology.
