How many people here don't have a smart phone, and why?

I've been using the Casio G'zone ruggedized phones for a few years now as I'm active outdoors and need a tough waterproof phone.

Personally all I need to do is text, send pictures and once in a while talk on the phone.

I pay very little per month as I don't have a data plan. As a frugal person I don't want or need a smart phone now, I'd rather spend that money elsewhere. I know plenty of people making less money than I do that have super new iphones and stuff with big data plans and such that are always whining about being poor.

How many other cheap people out there like me?

My phone is closely related to a soup can and a string. It's company issued or I wouldn't have one. I'm not cheap, I just don't like cell phones.

I don't have a smart phone. If my wife hadn't gotten me one for Christmas, I wouldn't have a cell phone at all. It's a $29 flip phone with a pay-as-you-go talk only plan.

I'm plenty tech savvy, but the need for texting escapes me and surfing the web on a phone is just nuts.

I don't have a smart phone either. I use my phone to make calls or do some very simple texts, that's it. I can get a smart phone from my company, but I don't want one. I'm not all that into electronic gadgets.

No smart phone for me. I'm too cheap. :tongueout:

Now if I could just buy a used iPhone and hack it to run off my Tracfone account I would be happy.

Until then I will carry my Tracfone and iPod touch. :wavey:

I don't. I have no need for one and I pretty much detest phones. Can't tell you why but I just hate the damn things all around. The only reason I even have a cell phone is it's required and provided by my job. Otherwise I wouldn't have one.

I have an old Motorola that has outlasted about a hundred smartphones owned by the wife and daughters.

I got it so they can call me in an emergency (and it better be an emergency...)

My observation of their 'smart' phones is that they are all POS's with problems continually, up til they get replaced with a new POS.

If it weren't for the insurance plans, it would get expensive. I feel that the industry should make a phone that works, and lasts.

I guess the reason is, women tolerate that crap, and like 'new' bling. If I ran the industry, the phones would be as durable as an anvil and work !

Not me, my company gave me a cell phone and that is what I use. I can't beat zero for a payment plan. And I have no desire / ambition to get one even if I did not have a company furnished phone.

    NO thanks

I could not do my job without a smart phone. Been carrying one (actually, two) since 2007.

Purchased a new flip-phone a couple months ago..
"Smart phones" are too large, with limited battery-life for me.
My Samsung "Gusto" only needs charging every 3-4 days or so and is small and lightweight.

    Motorola Tundra here..

But I have to admit a small bit of lust for the Samsung Rugby Smart.. would be quite handy when under a car, or someplaces and I want to google.. I don't know.. emergency brake cable routing options or something.. and I could see right there on stangnet how people were doing it to work around under body changes and such.. like if you swapped out a 6 speed into your 351W powered '95.. with full racecraft suspension... easier than dragging this laptop out there I bet..

Mine is a water/drop/vibration resistant type 3 years old. Not a smart phone but does what I need. I do not need or want all the stuff that comes with or is available for smart phones.

Same reasons as the OP. I like Tracfone's double-minutes flip phones.

Was using the $20 Motorola for 5+ years before accidentally laundering it.
Replaced it with a $10 LG that does everything (and more than) I need.

2 days later the Moto started working again. Tough lil bugger.
