I voted 9mm. I learned how much better I shoot 9s when I bought two of the same guns, both Dan Wesson Specialists. One in 9, one in .45.

Running drills with a timer showed how much quicker my splits were and how much more accurate I am with the 9

Wow. It's been about two days since this has been done. There's literally another poll identical to this but I digress.

My vote is the same. I'll take capacity over caliber every time. You'll feel pretty stupid with an empty gun in your hand if the firefight is still going.

G30S gets the nod most days (10+1 .45 acp).

G48 with 15rd magazines gets carried when attire requires something thinner. I was carrying this one the most but have been drifting to the G30S more and more.

That has been my carry for the past several months.

Occasionally, but not often, I go whacko and carry my 92FS Compact (15+1).

    Regards,
    Happyguy :)

I've carried both a 15rd/9 & a 10rd/.45, and nowadays I carry smaller versions of each caliber, as well as .40's.

Carry what suits you, and what you think you can run hard, fast, controllably and accurately under stress and duress. If you've been able to run your choice in demanding training, to your demonstrated satisfaction ... consider that regardless of what you've chosen, it's just one or another of the common defensive pistols of popular availability.

I shoot my 23 more accurately but my follow up shots are faster with my 19. As a result, I chose 9mm. An added bonus it that my wife can shoot 9 pretty well also.

1 45ACP round is equal to 5 9mm rounds. In these days of Ammo shortage you just need 1 45ACP to five or seven 9mm to get the job done.

Alvin York had his trusty 1911 and that was seven rounds. "Six German soldiers charged him with bayonets, and York drew his pistol and killed all of them."

I bet he'd have felt a lot better at that time with 8 more rounds in the mag :D

Whatever you carry, you should have a couple of extra loaded mags in your car at all times, in case you turn a corner and run into a street-blocking mob.

I prefer my Springfield XDM 3.8 Compact 9mm (13+1) for carry because the pistol is thinner and lighter on weight than my G-30SF .45ACP with that thick square slide . Here in Florida , carry is allowed only as concealed , so , if it prints out , you can be stopped by a cop and will have to answer questions , etc .
I do prefer .45ACP better than 9mm as effective stopper and the 10+1 from my G-30SF is still good enough , so I do carry it often too .

Same. I carry the G36 a lot in the winter and fall but the Shield 9mm during warmer months.

my dad talked about a fellow airman he hunted with while in the service. when they would go rabbit and squirrel hunting, dad had his 22 or 410, his buddy always used checked a 45 1911 from the armory... he said the guy needed only one shot and knocked the head every time. and he would only take one mag, said he didn't more than 7 squirrels... some people can shoot, some just blast...

I EDC my G19 Gen5 95% of the time. With it I carry a 24rd Glock mag as a spare. In my shoulder rig there will 2 24rd spare mags. Regards to all at GT and always carry a spare mag or two.

Dang son no one will ever say you weren’t ready , I like the sound of the shoulder rig too. No offense, but mind me asking around where do you live? That’s a lot of firepower, speaking of which, I need to find a 20rd mag for my vp9
