My absolute confidence gun is a Ruger GP100 3”, carried in a Kramer scabbard.

I know capacity is low. I know it’s heavy. I know it’s old school. I know I need to catch up.

But when I draw and shoot on the range out back, I ping them pretty quick and consistently.

I have both. I carried the 30 for 20 years. Got the 19 and now carry that with a red dot. Swapped when I went to 9mm at work so they supply the ammunition

    15+1 9mm. That’s why I carry one. When I’m not carrying a Glock 32.

I like 38 Super for warmer weather and .357mag/10mm during cooler months when the "big" predators come down from the mountains. Since I'm a country boy, still looking for those elusive feral hogs in dense mesquite.

I'm currently having an extended thumb safety put on my Colt Combat Commander. I've felt like carrying that more often of late, especially with the autumn weather. Might be for sentimental reasons too. Always liked the .45 since I was a kid. I worked with a real big guy back in the 70's who carried a Colt Govt. model in a shoulder holster, and it really impressed and attracted me. I had a Detective Special at the time, but thought "someday". We served summonses in some rough neighborhoods, but I always felt covered with him. Now's the time for me, so to speak; just 'cause I'm in a nostalgic mood. :eagle:

Of the two, I’d take the .45 although I would prefer a .45 with a few more rounds. If that didn’t work for mode of carry, manner of dress, or whatever, I would take a .40 with 13 rounds to split the difference.

Of the major auto loader cartridges, 9mm is my least favorite. I see it as more of a caliber for a hideout gun/pocket pistol. That’s just me though. I know my opinion regarding this topic is not a popular one.

1911s also come in 9mm, and I realize some think that is heresy. :duel:

PS, I voted for 9mm, and I do love 1911s, but I for some reason at the range feel I run out of ammo too quickly when I shoot any 1911.:dunno:

    I voted for 15 rounds of 9mm.
I was thinking about my choice between Springfield XD .45 Compact and G19. They are similar in size, though the XD Compact is a tad thicker/fatter. In terms of accuracy or shot placement, it is very much the same whichever gun I am shooting. However, I think I can shoot 9mm +P rounds through my G19 more easily, especially with quicker follow-up shots.

    I usually carry a G26 with a +2 extension and a 17 round reload but I like to carry a 1911 sometimes.

In my current state of hereness, I’m happy with what I currently have, and there isn’t anything out there right now catching my eye. So happy with pistol and caliber.
