What do you mean by 50%? You mean the M2 carbine is half the price of the M16?

Is the M2 carbine a real US Army issue Korean war carbine or a reproduction ?

If it's a real US Army issue weapon, then I would get that one first since it's relatively rare.

At 50% price difference meaning that the m1/m2 is the cheaper one than an m16/m4 and further assuming that the latter is in the 20-30K price range in rural areas in RP and much more cheaper in the hinterlands as a matter of fact, with more or less the same good condition...I'll go for the m1/m2...at 10-15K or even less; it's a steal...bring it to a smith and spend the same amount to refurbish, repair, enhance and you will have a beautiful carbine at less than 30K;)

M2 carbine ammo is much more expensive though . Personally I'd get the M 16. LOtsa ammo available.

I will get the m1/m2 first because:
    1. cheaper
    2. I'm a fan of the weapon whether it's m1 or m2
    3. controllability (low recoil
    4. reliability
    5. easy handling(short and light)
    6. ammo is not that hard to find
    7. over all it is a good firearm with a history also

Well, I will not pay more than 15k for a carbine :) for a M16, not more than 45k. And if I can only have one, I will go with the M16.

There are still a lot of carbines in the provinces:) It shoots the 30 carbine round.

The gun below used to be an M1, it's a pump action carbine now.
