For those multi-caliber Glock owners, which caliber do you take into the wilds with you? For either hunting, hiking or other wilderness activities which caliber is with you the most and what are your reasons? I have G19's and a G21 and would probably take the G21 on outdoors trips and use the G19 for societal protection.

'Outdoor Adventures' is where the 10mm really shines. Research the ballistics of DoubleTap rounds and you will see why.

Glock 20 for general woods/outdoors trips.
Glock 29 for backpacking or if concealability is a concern.

200 grain XTP-HP or FP penetrators depending upon what critters might be encountered.

9mm and .45acp are great anti-personnel rounds, but neither is well suited as a woods caliber.

My "Outdoor" Glock is the same one I carry most of the time.

If I take a Glock it's my G23. I've taken some hogs with it so it's got enough bang to do the job. Eventually I'll get around to picking up a G20.

I've killed 30+ groundhogs with my G23, and either have it in its original format, or chambered for 357 Sig.

    My G33 (357Sig) goes where I go.

I killed a wild hog and a coyote with it.

Yup, just like sy2k says. I own 9mm, 10mm, and 45acp Glocks. Wouldn't even have to think which one to holster up--G20 all the way. Performance of a G20 w/ really good ammo has to be seen to be believed.

If you don't have a 10mm, either one of the other calibers would be OK.

I take my G30 with me. Saving up for a G20.

Ok, so I don't have a 10mm Glock, if you had to choose between the G19 or the G21, which one with what ammo? I'm thinking probably the G21 with 185gr. tcfmj rounds for the extra velocity over the 230gr. for better penetration.

Of those two--forced to make a choice--the 21 with "hardball" (FMJ). Wasn't it Jeff Cooper who said: "They all fall to hardball"?

Between the 185 and 230, the 230 should give you better penetration. Standard 230 gr. FMJ would make a fairly good woods gun, heck even 9mm FMJ wouldn't be bad.

I carry a Glock 23 if I'm not packing my Blackhawk. I feel completely confident with the .40. I reload too, and the same dies will load up 10mm auto too, but right now I'm not moved to do so.

That gives me an idea for an indie horror flick starring Bruce Campbell.
