I have an older Springfield Champion thats my project gun. So far I fitted the beavertail and will be replacing some internals , hammer, trigger. This was a pretty darn accurate gun before I started so Im keeping the original barrel. Also pondering getting the front sight dovetailed so I can install a fiber optic front sight.

It was originally blued but Im thinking I want to go a different route. I want all black whatever coating I end up with. Obviously looking for something durable as well.

any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice. Anyone know a good place to send it to for DLC?

How much work do I need to put into surface prep? In other words does dlc fill in imperfections or does the metal need to be smooth like for bluing ?

Thanks for the replies. I like the dlc.
Its a little pricey, but if it holds up well I don’t mind.
