Which presidential candidate do you see as the best on law enforcement related issues?

It doesn't have to be your favorite candidate, or even the one that you plan on voting for, but, rather, when looking only at law enforcement issues, who is likely to be best for the USA on that.

Here is a piece on candidate's Trump's position:

Trump has been the most vocal, in my opinion.

Particularly on the lives of officers.

Trump is the only one I remember hearing being outwardly supportive of law enforcement, but that could be because he's getting the media attention (my thoughts on those reasons are for a different day). Him saying cop killers should get the death penalty is one of the only things he's said that I agree with.

For all of us, support for law enforcement is important. But I can't stand Trump and he won't get my vote just because of one quote. There are other equally important issues. I have no doubt that the Republican candidate, whoever it ends up being, will be much more pro LE than Hillary, Sanders, or anybody else on the Democrat side. And a million times more supportive than Obama.

I would say Christie. Comes from a Pro-Cop state and was once a DA.

Personally I think Cop issues are state/local politics. Other than LEOSA or rare DOJ investigations I do not see POTUS having major influence on daily life cop issues.

I have always thought that, but, having followed CopTalk for some time, it seemed to me that once President Obama was sworn in in 2009 as President, a lot of the posters here did see a connection between the POTUS and police issues, so maybe there is a connection after all.

I don't kow why ChuteTheMall used to have a Hillary avatar, but maybe that is an indication that she is pro-LEO. Certainly her husband had a close working relationship with the state police in Arkansas.

I do not see LE as a focus group that needs to be pandered to. I am emphatically NOT art of the FSA, and will not vote for whomever promises me the most cheese. Fix the damn country, and don't go sticking your federal nose into local issues.

I really like Ted Cruz. To me, he's a bit like Rand Paul, w/o coming across as whiny. STRICT Constitutionalist, limited government, conservative tax policies, pro God, pro gun, pro life... He pretty much hits all the key points for me (and it seems he's doing that for lots of R's, as he's the only one offering a realistic challenge to Trump).

I've not heard specifically where he is on LE issues, but as others have said, that's really a state issue that the Feds need to stay out of (and I feel fairly confident that's the answer he'd give on a question like this).

Trump has been the most outspoken. With Christie being a close 2nd. Both want to enforce the laws already on the books and give Law enforcement more power. Hillary is about the biggest police hater there is right next to Obama

I too used to think it was more of a state level issue and the POTUS didn't have much to do with local law enforcement. However that has completely changed. The anti- law enforcement stand at the moment was headed by our President. He was the first to publicly announce and take sides of bad guys before evidence was even presented in several major instances starting with the "beer summit" because of an incident in Cambridge. That began the ball rolling. His rhetoric on law enforcement is non stop and is just as full of "garbage"as the anti gun rhetoric spewed. He's the first one to say police are racist and boast. His specific actions along with the local police hating DOJ and AG's office have done enormous damage in their tenure. The POTUS these days does effect our daily lives as police. We are smack dab in the middle of that right now.

I agree that Obama has changed a lot of perceptions, but if we get a true CONSERVATIVE back in the White House, things will hopefully go back to being somewhat normal. Obama is nothing but a big government socialist... so really it's no big surprise what he's done this last 7yrs as to state issues/state rights, as he thinks the Fed should control everything.

Obama has given the perception that police are in the wrong by coming out and being critical on incidents he doesn't have all the facts on. Coupled with the fact that almost every police shooting involving a minority he sends the DOJ in to investigate, which on the surface always gives the perception something wrong happened. The interesting thing is the DOJ rarely, if ever, actually brings federal charges or finds wrong doing.

my take, Feds please leave us alone, worry about the Federal government and let the states and the other political subdivisions govern accordingly.
