Need some new boots to replace the OSwats that have served well.

These are for hiking (trails mostly, not carrying much weight), shooting (all day competition type stuff), hunting (mostly flat, sandy, palmetto), generally wearing around.

They need to work for hot weather, so no insulation. And I won't be carrying more than a day-pack, so don't need monster-tough load-bearing styles.

Looking at two different Danners and cannot quite tell how they're different (except one pair is slightly heavier). Not married to Danners, by any means. Looking for the collected wisdom of boot wearers here.

Either of those are excellent, I prefer the 453 as I have had them and they lasted about 1.5 years thats a long time for me in those type of non rebuildable boots.. the GorTeX works great even stopping wet grass from getting the feet wet.

Those OSwats are going to be tough to beat. I hate wearing "tactical" clothing but they really take a beating.

IMHO, you cannot go wrong with Danners. I bought a pair in Alaska prior to a caribou hunt in the late 90's. These were all Leather 11" high boots............I wore them on the tundra for 5+ straight days and very rarely were they out of less than ankle deep water. All that said, my "feet" never got wet while on the tundra. I've had to treat the leather a couple times a year since then, and 2 years ago, I had to have some of the leather restitched..............mainly because I wore the leather away and the stitching out. I dunno if they're gonna be able to restitch them another time. My feet still stay dry in them unless I go in water over the tops. Great, great boots IMHO!!!!!
