As soon as my government check shows up I'm thinking one of these or it's larger "tactical" brother.

I love my 1911s, and have more than a few including a double stack.

Still, if I had to pick one .45 or hard use in troubled times, it'd be my Glock 21.

I really like my SA XD .45 “Compact.”

Only slightly thicker than the G19, yet still holds 10+1 rounds of “flying ashtray” with a flush fit mag. Very concealable. Actually XD’s grip fits my small hands better than the G19s.

I would keep one of the 1911’s you have then get something new. Plastic fantastic guns are practical but you will appreciate the ability of shooting a 1911 every now and then. Rarely will you get your $ back on the quality of the two you have now.

Never cared for the recoil of small, polymer, .45s myself. Too slow on follow-ups.

But that little XD .45 has tempted me many a time, really like the feel. Much better than the Glock 30 and 30S I've owned.

Which of the thousands of XDS videos was it? The XDS is a pocket pistol, where I carried mine for years. Mine shot well before the great recall, and shot well after it was returned. I, using my immense pea sized brain, I knew it was a small gun using a big bullet. Hhmmmn what to expect, what to expect? I actually decided against the pinky only hold, and decided to hang on, after all it was a big bullet in a small gun. I had math in grade school and so I did the math, still got it.

Good to report it went bang, stayed tightly held in my hand, did not hurt me, and hit the target. Repeated five more times and then it was empty, that's the part I did not like. The empty part never set well with me. I switched to a 40 XDS, snappy they say, I would not know I still held tight, but I had one more round.

I only own six 45's now, the only polymer double stack is a XD45 SC and it is fairly heavy loaded, shoots soft to me and accurate...ish. My two 1911's are noticeably more accurate.

I will stand by my earlier recommendation on the XDM45 but add the M&P45.

I have a G21SF Gen3, and I absolutely love it! Everyone who has shot it says the same.

No matter the landscape or current headlines, at the end of the day, the one still standing, with ammo, won.
    Plan accordingly.

G21 for home defense and G36 for carry. I used to carry a G30 bit is it too big to wear comfortably all day. I have the three of them so I pick one depending on the clothes I'm wearing and the activity of the day.
G30 has the benefit of accepting G21 13 round mags. So if you want capacity. That option seems like the ticket.
Couple of weeks ago I tried carrying the G21 in my G30 Crossbreed holster and, with a large shirt, it works! I was surprised...
My EDC is the G36 and these days, I also carry a spare mag. I think that is enough to extricate me from almost any self defense situation...

Unlike those “mini .45s,” this one is more like a “service size” model with just the right sized grip for conceal carry. Bore axis is not bad, either. Recoil wise, it’s a rather mild shooter.
Too bad, SA stopped offering it...

    I had a 1911, sold it and got a G41. Best choice.

    I own a 1911 45acp, but a full sized M&P is the one that I shoot.

Though I in no way support getting rid of the 45s you own.

Also, wait six months and prices will plummet...or we will all be dead. Either way you save money today.

Cool. Ultimately a bobtail 1911 conceals just as well as a compact, if not better due to the thin profile, so I usually just go that route for carry if I'm not going 9mm (which I usually am).

I had strayed away from HK the last few years, especially since the roster list has been wrecking havoc on gun availability. I ran into an HK Expert and it is a great gun. Like all HK's though, mags will probably be pricey.

Been thinking I'd like to rebarrel one with internal comp and CMore. Sort of watching GB for a project gun. Still have the 646 if you have a 625 to trade on it.
