I‘ve decided my next pistol will be 10mm. Up until tonight I was firmly set on the Glock G20. However I thought I might need to consider some other brands. After looking at info on different models it is now between the G20 and the Springfield Armory XDm Elite. I will have to buy either from Sportsmen Warehouse and the local store has the SA and the G20 in stock. The SA Elite is black/OD green which I really like. I know I can’t go wrong with the Glock and have read many threads on here about the G20. Also the G20 will be a Gen 4. I have a Gen 4 G21 and really like the looks and feel of the Gen 4. Plus I haven’t decided if I need MOS. The SA has the option for a RDS so I’m covered if I do decide to add one. I just haven’t read a lot on the SA and need some info on them. I am kind of familiar with the feel of the SA as I had one of their early XD .45s. I remember liking the feel of the gun. What is the reliability like with these in 10mm? Any concerns I should know about? Thanks in advance for your help.

Right now I am leaning towards the G20 because I’m very familiar with the platform but I’m going to the Sportsman Warehouse tomorrow and check out the SA. I wish I could shoot both but I don’t see that happening. Although I have thought about saying the heck with it and buying both. But I’m also wanting a new G19 so I need the money for that too.

While you are familiar with the Glock platform, give the XDm Elite10 4.5 a shot. The META trigger is fantastic right from the box. They are accurate and soft shooting. While I like the Glock, the XDm fits my hand better, and if reloads are in the future, the barrel has no problem with lead. The 4.5 or 5.25 give you the option of a solid guide rod so you can change spring rates. It was suggested to me that I put a Wolff 20# recoil spring in it so I don't have to walk two states over to pick up brass. I believe the new Elites have 16 round mags. In fact I looked at a new one that came in a kit with 6 mags for about $659. Check out Powder River Precision for available accessories and upgrades.
I am definitely considering it. I am going tomorrow to check it out in person. I just found a good holster for it which was one of my concerns. I’m looking at the 4.5 inch model in OD green which is a Sportsman’s Warehouse exclusive.

Well I went to Sportsman’s Warehouse today to look at the SA but I didn’t see it on the wall. The one sales person was busy with a couple that was determined to see every gun hanging on the wall so I didn’t get a chance to ask if they had it somewhere else or I was just over looking it. Either way I didn’t get to hold it. So I just have to keep researching it and make my decision.

Have you thought of getting a 10mm conversion barrel for your G21? I have read that they work with G21 mags and it would be an inexpensive entry into 10mm.

I just got a Gen5 G20, but haven't made it to the range yet, although I really like the way it feels in my LH.

No I want a dedicated 10mm. I want to have both. Congrats on the Gen 5. How much are they going for and where did you buy it? I’m probably gonna go for the Gen 4 so it‘ll match my G21 if I decide on the Glock.

You shouldn't buy based on the ol' Gun Store Fondle.
It may feel good in your hand but you may shoot it like crap.
Try to find someone in your area that has one and will let you try it before you buy.
Or see if there is a local range that rents guns.

I have a Glock G20.4, Tangfoglio Stock III and a Sig X-Ten.
Lots of rounds through the G20, very accurate and easy to shoot.
The Tanfo is a steel framed beast....love that gun.
The X-Ten is new. I'm a big P320 fan and this is a great pistol.....feels almost like a 9mm frame.

Not a fan of the looks of M&P or XD so I'll probably never own either of those.
Everyone has their favorites.
I’ve already checked around with the local ranges it’s a no go on renting one. That’s why I’m leaning towards the Glock it shouldn’t be much different than my G21. But I really like the looks of the SA and I’ve owned an early XD .45 that I carried on SWAT and I really liked that pistol. It was OD green also so it has a little nostalgia for me.

After several days of back and forth I’ve decided to go with the Glock G20. I’m familiar with the platform and really love the Gen 4 looks and feel. I still may purchase the SA XD down the road as I really like the looks of it. But for now I’m sticking with Glock. I’ve read too many good reviews of the G20 to pass it up. The G21 with the large beavertail backstrap fits my hand perfect so I’m sure the G20 will be the same. Plus I already have a holster and mag pouches for the G21/G20. Also I like the fact that the Glock comes with 3 mags.

Just my .02 on the 10MM... make sure when buying 10 ammo it is loaded correctly/ loaded to 10mm specs...I have a G-20 / Gen 3 and a Ruger stainless SR 1911 in 10 mm both are great.
I already plan on buying some Buffalo Bore to load it it with. Not sure what rounds I’ll use for range time. Haven’t looked at the Underwood yet.

Went and held the SA XD today and after looking it over and feeling it in hand. I think I’ve made the right decision. I won’t be able to order the G20 until next Friday when I get paid but am looking forward to having one.
