It would help if you'd be more specific: what brand name and for which gun model?

Hello bul M5 shooter. I have on ein my IPSC .40 and I am using a comminoli tungsten guide rod. It does help quite a bit with the muzzle flip.

If you will have a hard time looking for one in Manila you can try Tony Pascual's MERCURY FILLED guide rod. I haven't tried it personaly but some says it works. By the way I am from Binan, Laguna.

The only problem with the Harrt's recoil reducer ( mercury filled), they are not as effective as the tungsten guide rod in reducing flipped ( speaking from direct experience}. I had one in my Bul m5IPSC .40 and I could not subjectively feel a difference between a steel vs the mercury filled guide rod. IMHO, the impulse of the .40 cal is too fast for the mercury filled guide rod. Harrt's recoil guide worked great in my single stack .45.

    MG40 este 45, ;)

I had a Pascual mercury guide rod in my old .45 singlestack. It felt like it kinda helped reduce muzzle flip. Kala ko ipapa-long dust cover mo na lang?

If you ever go back to the the US for vacation, check out the Comminoli guide rods since they have double buffers - one behind the rod where it hits the frame. Pabili n din kung pwede.

    :) C u at the range bud.

** Sorry for the thread hijack but does anybody know where you can get Comminoli guide rods locally?

I will be able to get some scrap tungsten rods around 10 mm dia. X 150 mm from from a plant in the IE. Hopefully the gunsmith can fabricate it into a guiderod.

They usualy use CARBIDE tips/cutter for tungsten and tool steel. What matters most is the SPEED of cut and the rate of FEED. Most machinist back home knows this stuff.

Tungsten guide rod? You can order that online at dawsonprecision.com, sorry not in Manila. Tony Pascual's mercury filled guide rod seems ok, I have it in my Norinco 1911.:)

there are cases that the mercury leaks from TP's guide rods. one customer complained loudly in the 1st gunshow last year

I used the TP mercury-filled rod before in my G19. With that thing in, I can do my mag change in less than a second! ;f

Seriously, dre, I didn't note any difference compared to the stock rod. Anyway, local steel rods are much heavier compared to TP's because TP's rods are hollow. You might also consider converting your barrel to a full-length bull barrel, if you haven't already. ;)

I have an EGW tungsten guide rod in my P16. At first i felt the difference which somehow reduced the flip. But now that i got used to it parang balik na naman sa dati.;f
