They will sign up for the money and pension. They will either do their job or just skate by until they can retire. Just like every other job. That and plenty Of SJW's would love the pay to harass all those cis males and republican white supremacists with their new badge and gun.

I'll let your crazy speak for itself.
I worry that you are actually a cop.

Crappy economy will make guys do lots of stupid stuff. Big city guys can also transfer their time to their city’s FD or get into the DA’s office. Just gotta gut it out until you can get a piece of your pension and your medical insurance partially covered.

The Army and Marines have found volunteers during the last 20 years of war. PDs will make adjustments and do likewise.

No racist, white-supremacy language will be tolerated on GT at any time, by anyone, under any circumstance.

Portland is the future: All the good officers are gone or leaving, incompetent "community patrols" that'll get beaten up/chased off by thugs, and all the rich parts of town will have private security.

The only logical conclusion is at some point, standards will have to drop. Then the real fun will begin. Inner City Departments that now require a 2-4yr degree, maybe will drop down to only requiring a HS Diploma. Who knows what else will be overlooked. People that like to say the only people who are police officers are the one's who aren't smart enough to do something else.... well they will really see that in the near future, IMO. The smaller city/town PD's, rural sheriffs, etc... They will probably be OK... but the big inner city PD's are going to have a problem.

Yup makes me wonder if this is some sort of conspiracy to replace police with active military. A soldier on every street corner. Welcome to the first step in the process of taking away ALL your rights.

Some of the small town police departments may close shop and the work will be contracted out to county sheriff's, state police, or local larger city pds?

I was discharged from the military on a general because it was a prior to service condition. So because I have a general discharge, it's "other than honorable" (not dishonerable though) so no government agency would touch me, even though I have a perfect record, perfect driving record, always walked the straight and narrow, never have done drugs, don't drink, ect... doesn't matter. Perhaps I could get a waiver but I don't care, it's stupid and I can make more money doing what I do so why would I want that job?

This is certainly going to deter people from wanting to become officers. Will the quality of people joining go down? Is that their intention with all this?

not a cop I,worked for FD, some cops ate at the firehouse often . Calls were always backed up ,including priory ones, stacked deep sometimes . They just said, “ throw it in my box “ , or, on many BS calls coded it from the firehouse .

Think Robocop...You privatize the police then contract with cities, counties and states at alarming rates. The private firms have armies of lawyers, pay 2-3 times what a cop normally makes..problem solved.

Shame when they find out PD runs a background check, you supply your own gun and they have no unlimited ammo.
