    The need for speed!

The sound quality left something to be desired. These are the velocities out of his 5 inch barrel Smith & Wesson.

The 125gr UA FMJ average velocity 1620 fps. with 730 ft/lbs of energy!

The Sig Sauer 125gr JHP averaged 1470 fps.

The UA 90gr XD averaged 1830 fps.

The UA 65gr XD averaged 2170 fps. with 680 ft/lbs of energy. This round gives a rifle like shock value plus 100 ft/lbs more energy than a 125gr 357 Magnum!

He made the assumption that the 125gr UD JHP would have the same velocity as the 125gr FMJ and I think he in correct.

Judging from the 1620 fps UA 357 Sig 125gr velocity out of a 5 inch barrel, I think it is very likely that I could get 1700 fps from the 6 inch LW barrel I have for my G31! A 1700 fps velocity with a 125gr bullet would give........800 ft/lbs of energy..... no not kidding 800 ft/lbs of energy. When you feel the need!

Those numbers are the reason I bought a G32 and an OEM 31 barrel for my G22. 10mm is my favorite round to shoot, but .357 Sig has really grown on me, especially Underwood ammo.

Underwood's sale ends in an hour and a half, midnight EST. It's only 10%, but it helps.

The 357 Sig gains velocity very rapidly from longer barrels. With a half inch longer barrel as much as 50 to 60 fps can be gained. The 125gr FMJ used in this fellows test has a 1475 fps advertised velocity but his velocity hits 1620 fps from the one inch longer 5 inch barrel! And like I said I have a 6 inch barrel which matches the barrel length of the G40.

As a total guess I would think it would match the velocity of a 4.5 inch solid barrel which would mean a 125gr velocity around 1550 fps. But someone with experience with ported barrels might have a more accurate estimate.

In any event you gain both in velocity and less recoil so it's all good!
