When you leave this life, what will family, friends, and others who know you or know of you, remember you for?

Hopefully, nothing. Which is just fine by me. :)

Why "nothing"? Surely you'll be remembered for something.

Hopefully, 'a good father and a loving husband.' Nothing else needed.

Wouldn't it be the same thing as you are known for while you are alive?

But - "IS A" would change to "WAS A"

I think about this a lot, and it briefly motivates me to do something more with my life. No success yet.

I think the greatest influence we can have is on our children, what have we taught them about honesty, integrity, perseverance and other values. NOt just in what we say, but how we live.

The greatest compliment I have ever received was my Son's senior year in high school, they had every senior answer the question, "Who has had the greatest influence on your life?"

    My Son's answer was,

"My Dad, he taught me to stand up for myself and for what I believe."

Having a good feel for you and your attitude and beliefs since being a member here, I would expect nothing less from your son. I imagine you have raised a good young man.

I hope to be remembered as a kind and charitable man, willing to give a hand up to those in need; a good father; a faithful and loving husband; a good son who honored his father and mother; and basically, to paraphrase an old saying,

"Let me be remembered as just half as great a man as my dog thinks I am.".

Probably making rude, insensative, angry, bitter and inappropriate remarks on GT.
But I am changing my outlook on life as I get some closure on a marital dissolution filed June 2008. Plus a couple of unfounded traffic situations that have been dimissed with no intent to prosecute by the DA.

Maybe I will be remembered for doing some good. Some mom or dad will remember an instance that a nameless PA went above and beyond to see their parent was admitted or their child was given top priority for a life flight
even if the initial diagnosis did not entirely support the flight. Just a gut feeling that things were worse than they appeared.

Then again maybe not, I will be working until I die. So, when I keel over in the clinic, they will tidy up my suit, straighten my tie, take my watch, wallet and ring, as well as my Glock, then push my unceremoniously into an incerator.

I only care for a few people and I'm going to do so as long as I will stay alive, because I love them or I'm a friend with them.
I'm always trying my best to not disappoint them along the way.
Once I will be gone the above won't apply anymore, so I don't give a damn.

I'd want my daughter and wife to think i was the best guy I could be.

And my friends to say, "That was a guy who loved history."
