I paid $42 for my model 19 in 1992 through the NYPD Equipment section. Would have been free, but I wAnted night sights.

I bought my first Glock in 1987 or 1988 G17 for $379. The G17 was the only Glock, in 1990 I bought the new model G19 for $399. You only had 2 choices back then.

S&W mdl 5906 was $595.00 (Accokeek Sports, Waldorf, MD) in '88. Bought one. Most expensive handgun I've ever bought.

Beretta 92FS was unobtainable, at the time. (Eventually got one, for $300.00 cash, NIB and 5 magazines.) :)

    Glock G17. . . . didn't pay attention to their price, then.

My recollection in that my 23 cost me low to mid $300s back in early 1993.

    I bought an early G17 for $289.
    No kidding.
I'm guessing the year was about 1987.

I bought a G19 in 1988. I had it shipped directly to the job and paid around $300.00
I figured they would never authorize a 9mm, so I stupidly sold it in 1989.
One of the best guns I ever had. Ate everything and was REALLY accurate. The trigger seemed better than later guns as well.
In 1994 I had to buy another G19 when the department authorized it. Paid $400 with three mags.

The price of guns has sky rocketed since Glocks first came about. Hell, you could get a Python for about $400 and a custom 1911, was a $500 Colt that was sent to Wilson for another $400-500 worth of work done. Also, Winchester Model 94's were selling for about $225 at Wal-Mart. Ah the good old days.

Good post OP! Interesting reading for sure. Glock's seem to have gone up but not crazy wise, like most other firearms.

Weren't many used in 1987 but there were some. When I went looking it was after shooting my armorers in the Marines in the summer of 87. Very few lgs near camp pendleton had any and some had no idea what I was asking for.

The sportingoods manager at kmart had already sold several and was able to order one for me and did so very quickly. His pistol section was also the very first place I saw a desert eagle. Kmart dropped pistol selling not many years later IIRC.
