    Someone

please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the

    people that run this country!!!!!!

    Both
    Republicans
    &
    Democrats
    We're "broke"
    and can't help
    our own
    Seniors,
    Veterans,
    Orphans,
    Homeless,
    etc.,???????????

In the last years we have provided aid to
    Haiti,
    Chile,
    Pakistan,
    Libya,
    Egypt,
    Turkey
    and Japan
    with literally,

    BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

    Our retired seniors
    living on a 'fixed income'
    receive no aid

nor do they get any breaks while our government

    and religious organizations pour

    Hundreds of Billions

of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food

    to Foreign Countries!

    We have

    hundreds of adoptable

    children who are shoved aside
    to make room for
    the adoption of
    foreign orphans.
    AMERICA:
    a country where we have
    homeless without shelter,
    children going to bed hungry,
    elderly going without 'needed' meds,
and mentally ill without treatment -etc.
    YET.......................

    They have
    a 'Benefit'

for the people of Haiti on
    12 TV stations,
    ships and planes lining up
with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

    Imagine if

    the *GOVERNMENT*
    gave 'US'
    the same support
    they give to other
    countries.

    Sad isn't it?

I think most would refer to that as welfare and socialism. But yes, we should be taking care of home first.

I don't blame the people who run the country so much as the people who elected them.

    Absolutely NOTHING.

It's you and I who do nothing about it changing it.

Posting chain email no matter how much you agree with it will get you tarred and feathered here in short order.

As far as the point in question goes,

The American people pay for the mass media that is reengineering society one meme at a time.

We are too busy or too cool to serve on juries, so the people who do serve are not represenative of our true society.

We elect people to public office on the basis of how they look and if they have "name recognition".

Again and again we do not reason our way to consistent, workable policies, instead we respond to "It's for the children", "Everyone deserves ___", "We have to do something" and other emotional appeals.

So, yeah, down the tubes we go, and we as a nation have it coming.

The money spent on behalf of other countries is a drop in the bucket in regards to social spending.

Does it need to stop? Yeah. Does it matter? Not really.

Upwards of ~55% of our spending is dedicated to social expenditures while defense spending is about half that. Foreign aid is far less.

We have the richest "poor" people in the world.

    How damned much is enough?

There is a LOT wrong with our "leaders" but far more wrong with our citizens.

In 1935, when Soc Sec started, you were expected to be dead 4 years before you started collecting (61.7 year life expectancy).

Today, you are living to an average age of 78.

Imagine if FDR had set the SS collection age at 48 in 1935.

    Sounds silly, right?

But that's pretty much the situation we're in now.

There are increasing numbers of +65, and relatively fewer numbers of -65 to fund the system.

Do the math. Keeping grandma alive until she is 103 is killing the rest of us.

And for those of you who will reply, "but I paid in my whole life!!!"...

You will collect, on average, 3x more from programs like Medicare than you EVER paid in. So spare me your indignation. Getting a hip replacememnt at age 86 makes you a welfare queen in my book.

We have created the greatest a ponzi-structured welfare state in history.

Every few years we run across the same logic and agree upon it without you mentioning math. There's likely an equation you can attribute to his but don't... thanks in advance :wavey:

Nothing wrong with the DemocRATs and RepubliCANT politicians. They do what politicians do.

However, there's a lot of wrong with the Americans who keep voting them in years after years, decades after decades.

So, my answer is to look in the mirror. That's what's wrong with the American elected officials.
