so a buddy of mine is finally gonna buy a glock. he's not really into guns only having a 10/22, .308 remmy and a MKII ruger so it will probably be the only glock that he'll ever get. i reccomended a 23 but just wondering what you guys think would be the right gun for a solo glock owner.

Any Glock in 9 or .40 is the MUST have. .45 is a must after those (little more expensive...)

Glock 19 almost without a doubt. The 17 would be a decent choice too. I wouldn't recomend any subcompact as a first or only defense handgun.

17 or 19 depending on size of hands (which fits better)

Well, that depends on his shooting prefrences. Target or self-defense?

Not trying to stir up a debate on caliber, just some stuff I have noticed.

The G23 is hard to beat if you want 2-3 calibers with just a barrel change. Has he shot .40S&W before? Some think the recoil is a put off. The 9mm and .357 sig barrels make it a more diverse firearm. Not that .40S&W is inadiqate for a round, just nice to shoot other stuff due to price/avalibility. If this is a SD gun then just .40S&W is a good round.

The G19 is a great gun if you like 9mm. another good SD gun, easy to shoot.

I have no experience with the .357 sig round or Glock guns chamberd for it so no coment on these models from me.
