Hey guys I posted a wanted ad for a used G19, but Im at a crossroads as to what to do. I can get a 2nd Gen G19 that was police issued for 375 plus shipping or I could join the GSSF, get my LE cert and get a brand new one for around 398 if I'm not mistaken. What do you guys think would be the best option here?
    Thanks

For the same price, I would buy new. You never know, you might be buying someone else problem when you buy used.

I just wanted to remind you that the Glock 19 Gen 3 is out. Didn't know if you wanted to consider that in your options.

Based on the prices you quoted, they are close enough that I would consider going for the one that you can get any kind of service for if any problem arises. Though I'm doubtful one will ever pop up.

I bought a police trade in G17 (1st gen) years ago for $300. It works flawless. I just ordered an OD green 3rd gen G19 for $525. Hopefully have it soon. I wouldn't worry about buying used at all. But 375 used or 398 new, why wouldnt you buy it new? Buy used from a good local dealer, most in my area will give you 15-30 days of shooting, and if you have problems they'll fix it. I doubt you'll have to many problems with a Glock though.

I'd get the GSSF cert and get the newer one at the good price. Even though I'm sure the police issued one probably works fine... I don't see the reason why you wouldn't pay about $20 more to get a brand new weapon.

If you can get the LE Glock, I would go for that. They come with 3 mags. The used one could only come with one or two, I'm not sure as your post didn't mention....

    The $398 ain't really $398.
If you want upgrades, add $.
If you order it, add shipping.
If you buy local, add tax and FFL fee.

    So $430+.

Is the police turn-in in a shop or private sale?

What do you mean out? back-ordered? discontinued? Sorry, missed the thread about this.

If you can get a new Glock for $398, it doesn't make any sense to buy used.

Joining the GSSF is an awesome deal. You get to purchase a new glock at the discounted price ($398.20 for most 9mm/40cal) and you can attend the armorers course. Upon complettion of the armorers course, you can purchase 2 additional discounted Glocks. You can also attend GSSF matches, receive the Glock annual magazine, and I do believe they even include a hat with your initial membership.

In this case I'd go new. That said, I do like the Gen 2 G19's better. Just feel better in the hand to me.
