Keep it clean boys and girls.
One of my fascinations is with US Navy ships/particularly small ships that served in WW2. I had the privilege of visiting the Laffey that is tied up in South Carolina on permanent display. To think men went to war on these small boats in a huge ocean against incredible odds.
Anyway, here is a photo I took of the USS Laffey.

This box had her ships flags stored.

What rank would an officer be to pilot a ship that size, Lt. Commander?

Very cool, the PT boats have always fascinated me as the PT 109 book from childhood.

Wiki says during the Korean war she was commanded by Commander Charles Holovak. Commander Frederick Beckton was her first commander in WW2.

Patriot's point. Interesting place to visit. I went through those ships back in the early ’90s, but the significance of the Laffey didn't click with me at the time.

Collecting military items for over half my life. My main focus is dog tags but I also dabble in uniforms and helmets, mainly World War 1 through Vietnam. I have the service history for probably 85% of the dog tags. 20180111_185409.jpg 10368249_548877805232955_9219794678884588521_n.jpg

2 wheels with a motor, wind on your face, twisty roads and good scenery. That has been my love.
