Thinking about getting one. I have a Sig P226 ST that I might try and see about trading for one. Is this a good trade?

What would it cost to purchase one? New? Used?

Series 70 = No Firing Pin safety and older production. They can command a premium but you might find one at a gunshow for $600ish that is well used. Good base guns. If you find one in mint condition, then some people tend to jack up the price quite a bit, nearly $1K from what I've seen.

Series 80 = newer production w/ firing pin safety. I've seen prices locally ~6-700 used.

XSE Series 80 = new production that comes in a full stainless model or a alumn lwt frame. Comes with a novak sight cut, dovetail, ambi safety etc. Usually in the ~900 range new.

    Thanks.

I have a Dan Wesson CBOB so I am somewhat familiar with the 70 series type 1911. I think I would like one of those if possible.

That said, I could probably be persuaded into something else. I am having a bit of a 1911 urge right now and open to suggestions.

Blued Combat Commander, Series 80 is about $780.00 in my neighborhood. The XSE LW Commander is about another $75.00 or there abouts.

If you shop around you can find a new NRM 1991 series 80 for around 800. 900-1000 for an XSE. A real clean series 70 will prolly be aroun 1200-1300 bucks, least that's what they go for in my neck of the woods.

If you want aluminum and you want new, your only option in a Colt last time I checked was an XSE and only in stainless.
