a student at my University went on a Columbine-like killing spree and I happened to be carrying and killed him. Now this is only hypothetically speaking.

I know it's against the law to carry any firearms on a school campus but would I get some jail time for it?

I won't lie, going to class without being able to carry makes me a bit nervous these days.

i am betting you would go to jail. charges maybe dropped later, but with kids being suspended for bringing toy guns, they are taking this no tolerance stuff pretty seriously.

It's a shame the bill to allow students to carry on University Campus' didn't pass.

You might need to be worried about someone going postal on the TT campus after getting rid of Leach:tongueout: But, they're probably going to be looking the AD over there.

As long as I'm not Adam James, I'm not going to be too worried :whistling:

But seriously though the firing of Leach has brought about much separation from the student body. Many true supporters of Leach wear t shirts demanding Leach's return. I personally think that what is done is done and hopefully Tuberville can take us forward into something great.

    I seriously doubt it.

As I recall the first school shooting was stopped by the school vice principal running to his car and getting a 1911 he had there.

If it ever made it to trial, which I seriously doubt, it would be thrown out.
No Texas prosecutor would ever want to push something like that, not if he wanted to keep his job.

I doubt you'd be charged, aside from the school's disciplinary actions.
Media wouldn't do much more than acknowledge it happened.

    Nope. . .

The media would report that an off duty LEO or a security guard did it.

The truth wouldn't get released until weeks later, once everybody had forgotten about it.

You would most likely be detained, but I think public outcry would keep you from being prosecuted. The hero is pretty popular for a while after something like that.

He might be a 15 minute hero to America but he would be a hero for us gun owners for a while to come. Any good guys stopping bad guys with guns...
Well that's a good thing for us.

Your charges would get dropped to something more minor, and your school would suspend you. Then, a year or two later, they would allow you back after the legal stuff had blown over and they had been pressured by everyone. I'd send your legal defense fund a benj, and recommend you go to A&M. gig 'em.

you'd have amazing lawyers, an acquittal, no degree, and folk hero status to the students. the lib professors (whose asses you may very well have saved) would crucify you.

i'd toss a benjamin your way too.

not that i'd ever condone carrying on campus, or anything...

Rather be judged be 12 than carried by 6, 8 if you eat a lot of happy meals.

You would probably face legal consequences in some manner. You may even become a test case, for good or bad, on the matter.

But you would also be alive. And that's the trade-off that must be weighed.

More likely though the trade-off is CARRYING on campus versus jail time. There's a much better chance you could get caught or outed just attending day to day and face severe consequences as opposed to actually having to use it.

Just to be clear, I don't carry while on campus since, Macg22, you're point of me getting caught is more likely than actually having to use my firearm is true. But you also have a point about the tradeoff which is why I wish they had passed the bill.

I live off campus so if something like this were to occur, I'd just be another unfortunate, defenseless student.

Nothing would happen to you if you saved lives. But I would not risk getting a young persecutor(prosecutor) coming after you for carrying illegally if your state is not gun friendly. Hopefully, the carry movement keeps growing and on campus carry is allowed nationwide.
