I allready had 22 years on my job in television. No legal carry back then. But that day required a gun. Carried completely stealth. Only happened one day.
At that time I was still carrying a 1911with 2 spare mags. On some says, if I felt the need I would carry 4 spare mags. Now I carry a 9mm most of the time, unless I'm not allowed to carry on that day, then I sneak one of my small .380s.
.Glock19-3, S&W 442(BUG), same ones as today. Had my Duty Belt in trunk with spare mags, cuffs, OC, Icon Portable Radio. PR-24, and 3 cell Maglight by my seat. Kevlar vest and helmet on passenger seat. Moss 500, 12ga, on floor in case.
I was at the PAFB gym that morning, a short time later I deployed with an M9 and my M-60. We thought we were going to Afghanistan and prepped for it, ended up at Dobbins AFB in Atlanta. Doesn’t seem like that long ago.
My EDC then was a Glock 22 and two extra mags. After the second tower was hit they closed the college and sent us home. My VP called after I had been home for a short time and asked me to come back and complete a federal aid request online. I slipped a 870 behind the seat of my F150 and went to school. There was so much confusion at work when I got there he said sorry just go back home. The IT guys were concerned about a hack so they were closing down our network.
I watched the tv and saw the planes hit. I had to go to work in tv and had no idea if more problems were coming to the country or my city or chicago or new york or la or washington.
I went to work with my loaded 1911 colt with three spare 8 round wilson combat mags. So 33 rounds total on me and a spare box of ammo in my bag.
Never needed the gun. But wanted to be armed in case something else happened.
Did you folks around at that time carry that day ?
