I went on a morning shoot today, and it was crap; total crap! First off, I got a new gun yesterday (LINK) , so today was a 1st with it. Not being use to a new gun is like running a marathon in new sneakers -- you just don't know what's gonna happen until you're well into the race. Anyhow, the birds were high and the few low ones that came into the field were fast. We "shot" from about 7:30am - 10am. We kinda gave up b/c there were no birds. There were 11 of us; two birds were killed. I got one, and another guy got one. It was a bad hunt. Now, last Saturday we started at 1:30 pm at a field down the road from where we hunted today. Very, very slow at first. However, at around 3:45 or so, things started picking up. I had ole faithful w/ me, so there was no problem dropping birds. (870) As far as how many I downed, well, let's just say I was helping out my buddy before it was all over with. I shot, umm, many. The next best in the group of guys was 3 -- can you believe that? 3 birds... Oh well. Anyway, it looks like the afternoons will be more productive. When are y'all huntin' and seein' the most birds?
