A window popped up on my computer to update quick time player, so I did it. Then i tunes wouldn't play so I followed their instructions to delete quick time and reinstall only quick time, well i tunes still didn't work. I repeated this procedure 3 times with no luck. Then I tried a system restore with no luck, then I uninstalled i tunes and quick time and was just going to start over. The download window said it was downloading both quick time and i tunes, but when I try to open i tunes it says quick time cant be found. WTF over:steamed:

My initial response was virus, but no...this isn't a virus. Try REuninstalling both, and then go with trying to install quicktime, by itself, first.

Never had anything like this before, but sounds like the original quicktime update was corrupt.

Had something like this happen a few months ago. I finally went into my view update history and cancelled some "office suite service pack (sp2)" and a couple security updates from around the time the problem started... voila! Back to normal.

Something in one of them corrupted both quicktime and norton + uninstall on both, + who knows what else? Arrrgh.

Sounds like you're going to have to manually remove Quicktime and Itunes from folders and the registry.

Here is a link I found with instructions on how to do it in Windows XP.
    http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Completely-Remove-Quicktime-on-Windows-XP&id=3403408

If you're using a different version of Windows, there will probably be some minor differences in folders and such, but the same basic procedure.

After that, reinstall it and I would think that should fix your problem. Be careful messing around in the registry, you can really mess things up in there. Make sure you only remove the Quicktime/Itunes related stuff in that guide.

There are also clean uninstall programs you can probably find on the internet. They will remove the registry keys and all. You might want to go that route.

Maybe you should stop using Apple products, your life will be much better for it.

quicktimes always been a pain. MY most recent issues was an update that wasn't an update. I like to go to the quicktime page and look at the movies trailers. Well one day they changed everything on the sire and quicktime wouldn't play. I would try to run a trailer and it would say quicktime wasn't there and wanted me to download it. Well I went to update quicktime and it woud say it was up to date. What I had to do was download quicktime, which was the exact same version I already had on my computer, uninstall it and install the new not new version and it worked.

iTunes & Quicktime both qualify as viruses.
