I want to get OD grips for my M1911 knife so it will match my Springfield. I didn't have the money to have the front strap checkered so I improvised and put on some skateboard tape which is working out great for me. Should I get regular grip panels and leave the tape on the gun or should I get Hogue's wrap around grips? I had those wrap around grips on the Kimber Classic Stainless I had when I first moved to Oklahoma and got along with them really well. What say you all.

I didn't have my CHL when I had the Kimber with the wrap arounds, so I have never carried like that, but it was damn comfortable shooting with them on:supergrin::wavey:

My goal is to have OD green grips on the knife and the pistol, and as far as I can tell Hogue is the only one that makes them in OD:supergrin:
Right, with this "insert" as it is called you could actually have the exact same grips on the knife and the gun, while still having front strap grip. Maybe you don't like the finger grooves though and want a flat front strap? These are not my thing but I think it would be a little better than skateboard tape (not that the tape is "red neck" or anything. I use it on my Glock.)

I have Hogue wrap arounds but find that they trap moisture against the frame and start rusting. In your neck of the woods (been there and live just north of ya) I know the humidity. I prefer wood. You could get wood and paint or stain them ? Just a thought.

Don't take our advise. We are not you....just use the one you like the best.

Both are good choices if you like them.
I may be able to get a hell of a deal on a pair of OD grip panels at the big gun show next weekend:supergrin::wavey:

This, then you have a Wilson Combat Customshop Kimber.

Or skateboard tape would work just fine.

Actually I swapped the Kimber, for a Springfield and 500 bucks. I needed to get rid of some bills when I took the huge pay cut with my new job:crying:
