Are there any that develop enough velocity to expand?
    I am considering: Ranger 130 gr +p.
Speer 135 grain that I can never find.
Winchester or Federal 158 gr. LSWCHP's (FBI load.)

Gold Dot for short barrels. I keep it in my LCR. Given the Gold Dot reputation, I assume it will perform admirably.

I saw a report and pictures on one of the many Forums I look at. It showed the 135 Gold Dot after passing through many barriers and then still penetrating ballistic jell. It opened up very good. The New York P.D. reports it works very well in 2" and 4" Guns. Evan Marshal likes Corbon DPX the best but, he says 135 Gold Dot is also good. I always look to Evan Marshal and the Stopping Power Sight when comparing ammo.

I stick with lead bullets. Nyclad or 158+p lead hollow points.

I mostly carry Short Barrel Gold Dots, but I also like Hornady Critical Defense.

In my non-scientific wet phone book covered in denim test the 130gr PDX-1 +P, regular Gold Dot, and Gold Dot short barrel expended beautifully out of my 642. Nyclads were inconsistent in expansion and the 158gr LSWCHP flattened out and wasn't very uniform. Penetration between all 5 rounds tested was comparable.

After all the research I've done, I've settled on Critical Defense,
    standard pressure.
Repeated tests show it to penetrate 10" after passing through 4 layers of cloth, and expands to 1.5 x it's size.
