I used to buy tons of comic books and got into buying comic book statues on e-bay for awhile. When I got married my wife got a promotion and we had to move so I packed all my stuff in boxes and put them in our "junk" room. I really really want a HK 45C but they are high dollar for me so I looked over my stuff and decided I am going to e-bay some of my comic stuff. I have a statue I payed $45 for that is super rare and I think I can get close to $500 for it. Just wondered what interesting things you guys have parted with to finance a new firearms purchase.

Last fall I went through my gear and sold a bunch of knives and a really nice flashlight to buy another S&W. I know that knives and flashlights are kind of gun related but that's the best I could do.

I did the opposite. In 1984 I traded a 1980 Colt Commander for a 1962 Chevy II body as the base for a 9 second street car. It came with a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear with a 4.11 limited slip differential. I sold that for $225.

I sold my 12 year old sister for a shot of tequila and 20 pesos. Does that count?

I loaned out my body in trade for a M-1 Garand... really... I swapped several weekend's of yard work to my brother in return for a nice WWII era M-1 Garand that was one of two we had ordered from the CMP. He decided he didn't like his rifle and offered to sell it to me. I didn't have any money to spare. He had more than he could do in his yard so we worked a deal. His M-1 was identical to mine. Both rifles were Springfield Armory WWII production loaned to Denmark. Both as received from the CMP were fresh from Danish arsenal rebuild with a gorgeous VAR barrels (TE = 1, ME = 0). My body recovered and I still have the Garand.

I made a lot of money on some knives from the 70's/early 80's. Some were custom and semi-custom. Also made money from selling cameras and lenses.
E-bay is great for selling stuff that in the old days would have just been packed up and forgotten about. I've sold lenses for more than I paid for them. Sold a lot of scopes too. Lets say you buy something for $500, keep it a couple of years and then sell if for $400 on E-bay. That's like $50 per year to rent the item and then you get most of your money back. I hate E-bays firearms policy, but I've gotten rid of stuff that I could not have gotten rid of anyother way. Works for me.

I really don't know why people like to give me watches. Even my girlfriend gave me a $300 watch for V day. I haven't wear a watch since I was 14. Really, I would be happier if she gave me a box of 9mm. :whistling:

Other way around for me---sold guns for a down payment on a car and for a new dryer.

Sometimes life gets in the way of hobbies.

Sold a Playstation 2, about 100 games, and other accessories to fund my most recent firearms purchase. Other than that I just set some money aside a little at a time.

Traded a Marlin 336 in 35Rem for a Fender P-bass and an amp. Learned I can't play worth a shxt, so I sold the P-bass and amp and some other music junk for my DPMS AP4 in 308. Now THAT is music to my ears!

I wish I had that 35Rem back though.

    I sold this:

... to buy a new Benelli M4 from my local shop...
I walked in with the money 2 days later (after holding the gun) and it was sold.
    So I bought this instead:

... for way less money and bought more reloading equipment/ supplies/ ammo/ nice dinner for the wife/....
The M4 woulda been cool but, I like that Beretta a whole lot too.

I have one more old Italian Harley for sale next, maybe I'll get that M4 anyway. Maybe the Honda chopper next, could be a M1 Garand...
