I just bought use Les Baer, owner said he been shoot about 4-4500 rounds (mix factory/reload)
I'm plan to change recoil spring and firing pin spring.
what other spring(like hammer spring) or part should I change at same time ?
and spring weight is 18 1/2 or should I low to 16 lb.

ammo use will be 230 gr. factory.

    Thanks in advance.

Les says 18.5, Wolff says 16, Colt says 14-15, John Browning said 13.75.

If you think you might ever have to have it serviced back at Baer, go with their 18.5.

Firing pin spring is included with Wolff recoil spring, no reason not to change out, but no reason to change out unless you do a lot of dryfiring.

No other 1911 spring needs to be routinely replaced.

Firing pin spring and recoil spring is fine, and if you are into this sort of thing replace them every 5000 rounds ( this would be about twice a year for me, but I tend to let it go much longer without any apparent effects) you should never have to replace any other springs for the life of the gun.

I would buy two 18- 18.5 lb recoil springs. The firing pin spring can be changed, but likely it is fine. The other thing critical with proper 1911 operation is the magazine spring so that the rounds push up at the correct rate to be picked up as the slide closes. The top round gets loaded pretty easily, the last round requires a decent power spring to pop up with the spring almost fully extended.

So I might consider replacing the magazine springs, or just buying a couple new Wilson combat 47-D magazines. I love the Wilson mags. Remember that there are a hundred years of good / bad / worn / terrible / cheap magazines to fit your 1911. So when problems occur I start at the magazines and go from there. Just be aware that 1911's require more oil than most other guns, and that magazine and recoil springs need to be correct to make the gun reliable.

I love the 1911 platform and consider them the best gun design for me. I have been shooting with them since 1980 and I find them extremely reliable.
