I've wondered this many times (everytime I'm in a hotel) and I just thought of it again as I'm sitting in a hotel room.

Anybody know what that thing is for?

That's where you tell them to put your room service when you can't eat it right away.

It's just a heat lamp. Some people don't like coming out of a hot shower and being cold before they dry out. No tanning involved!

If the light is screwed into the ceiling, it's for keeping you warm. If it's at the end of a tunnel, it means you're dead............................

i always figured it was to dry out the dampness before it could set in and cause mold or other water related damage. can you imagine the reapair bill if someplace like the marriot had to shut down 10-20 rooms at one time and have the bathrooms torn out and redone?

They are heat lamps as stated here.

I put 600 watts (2 lamps) with a power vent, in the bath to warm up with after the shower when it's way below zero in the winter. Works great. The dog thinks they are "Puppy Warmers", so do I.

    To warm your "puppies".

I know a certain faired-skinned redhead that if she stands too close to a 60 watt light bulb will get sun burned. She would probably bake under one of those things like a giant easy-bake.

I'm a fair skinned, freckled Northern European (Mothers side was all Red heads) and I welcome any heat I can get coming, out of a shower. I don't burn from them, but can get very warm.
