    ..."of"...

Where once I wound see phrases such as

    "because of cars"
    "because of sex"
    "because of rape"

    I now see

    "because cars"
    "because sex"
    "because rape"

So why is "of" disappearing? Taking an "of" or two out of a ten line paragraph doesn't seem to save much space or time.

I think it's tongue in cheek, but I don't know what the origin is.

It's for comedic effect, as if if said in a conversational tone accompanied by a pause and appropriate hand gestures.

    Because laziness.

Actually I think people are using up all their allotment of 'of' when they should be using 'have'. Just not enough of 'of' to go around.

    Should of...

    Could of...

    Would of...

That's Shuddah, Coodah and Woodah. I think they were the 3 guys that Nebuchadnezzar tried to burn in the furnace.

What about the ones who use "your" in place of "you're" and vice versa. Or those who use an apostrophe s to show plurals.

Man, Sister Bernadine would have their nuckles bloody from her ruler for weeks!

Right on, bro, and I could've ( could of ) swore we were taught a 'possessive' and 'plural' & accent use of the accent sign (') . ( abbreviations were frowned upon )
Of course, I was maybe delirious from the knuckle-bustin' and black-board eraser throwing prowess by Sister Colum bier' , 30 yard shots were common and devastating.
