I have had 1911's before. I have owned a springfeild milspec, and a kimber custom 2. The kimber I never could get to run right, the sprigfeild was fine minus the short trigger and arched mainspring housing. I have around 800-1000 give or take a bit to spend on a 1911. Must be a ful sized gun 5 inch flat mainspring housing and long trigger, black, not blued is the color of choice and all steel. What do you recomend? I wont CCW this, its just for the range.

I always recommend Colt when someone wants a 1911 in this price range. You just can't beat the original and these days Colt is once again making a top notch product. I always choose stainless myself and prefer commander sized but in any configuration Colt is a good choice.
