    ....and why?

    Love:

    Scenery - I live in God's country
Air quality - smog? What smog?
Gun laws - All the way up to Class III; shall-issue with 8 hour hunter safety class
People (super friendly) - People are, as a whole, a lot friendlier here
Seasons - Four distinct ones...dirtbike, dirtbike, jetski, snowboard
Freedom - You can pretty much do what you want out in the sticks
    Building codes (what building codes?)
    General attitude

    Hate:

People, sometimes (super nosy) - and sometimes I don't wanna talk for twenty minutes, I just want to pick up my package at the post office and get home
Seasons, sometimes (winter can suck when it's six months plus) - snow is awesome, but sometimes living in it can suck. And we have big mosquitoes here in summer. BIIIIIIg mosquitoes.
Good ol' boy network (you can get burned but good if you ain't in it) - I'm in it, but I've seen people who prefer not to socialize get nailed by the GOBs for not playing.

    No likey:

-There is often a "third world" mentality over folks who do not desire progress in our ever-growing city. OTOH, there are folks who want our city to grow (quality first). I find the later a rarity.
    - Relatively high prop taxes
    - stupid bg's who lack brains
    - too many chain food places in my area
    - "mom and pop" grocery shops are almost all gone
    - The "walmart" of grocery shopping lacks variety due to the dominance of their store brand products (over 11,000 products)
    - too many reckless drivers
    - DWI epidemic (maybe I'm overstating this)

    Things I like:
    - weather (mostly)
    - hill country scene
    - thunderstorms
    - monthly gun shows
    - good steak
    - patriot-friendly
    - military/leo-friendly
    - no state income tax
    - I like the freedoms I have here in Texas with regards to gun ownership and the general support and mutual respect between LEO and "us".

Our second home is in paradise. No complaints there.

I love the woods, trout fishing, bird hunting, down-east coast and scenery. The dry sense of humor of the people (although that is an 'endangered species' as the younger TV generations take over) and the Yankee sense of independance (another trait that is quickly disapearing) I even like the wicked winters, as it gives you a challange.

I hate the black-flys and state taxes....both will bleed you dry, a little bit at a time.

    Good:
    Scenery. Beaches, mountains, fields, forests.
Clean air. The ocean breeze keeps it cleared up pretty well.
The mild weather. Snow is rare, it only freezes for maybe seven or eight nights a year, summer is from April to November, doesn't get too hot on the coast. We have been having a bit of thunder the last couple days, which only happens about once or twice a year, and only for a few minutes. (I do love thunderstorms!)
    The backroads. A motorcyclists's paradise.

    Bad:
    High cost of living.
    Liberals galore.
    California gun laws.
    Traffic.
Road condition. I don't know where all that money is going. It sure isn't going to road maintenance.

The weather is the same as it was where I grew up (Nashville).

I like being able to look out at the lake when I wake up.

We're the ONLY State in America where each and every county voted "red" in the last election.

Good, honest (for the most part) people who know how to mind their own business and don't mind looking out for you.

And the State gives it's disabled vets (if wounded in a "war") some great tax breaks. I pay no property taxes nor will I ever again, I pay no "sales tax", I pay no "excise tax" on vehicles (which on my last veh would have been about 1,500 bucks), and I pay only 6.00 a year on my veh tag. The state did this because they wanted to, no other reason.

    Thanks OK.

    I live right outside Chicago...

    Good:
    Close to everything
    Lots of things to do
    Food

    Bad:
Crappy roads for motorcycling (all straight)
    Long winters
    Horrible gun laws
    No scenery
    High cost of living
    People/neighbors/little privacy
    Traffic
Did I mention crappy roads for motorcycling?

I live just north of Seattle.

    The good:

Some of the best emergency care in the world (Harborview/Medic 1)
    2hrs from ocean, mountains
    Trees
    Bike friendly
    Pro Gun/Shall Issue
Easy access to more than a couple gun ranges
    Plentiful outdoor excursion possibilities

    Dislike:

High concentration of leftist twits in local Gov.
    Declining business climate
    CA style attitudes
    Poor DOT management
    High taxes
    Incompetent State leadership
    Cost of living

Likes: Close to the wife's peoples. Slower pace of life, conservative mentality

Dislikes (where do I start): Large bugs, humidity, flat terrain, no outdoor recreational opportunities that don't involve killing things or being in a boat, winter that lasts about 12 years it seems, tornadoes, high taxes, lots of thugs, no variety

Seems like I should move out of here doesn't it?

    The good:
    - Fair weather year round. Occasional storm but nothing to worry about.
    - Clean air.
    - Clean beaches.
    - Smoke free for the most part. (Not just by law but per capita very few smokers by choice).
    - Middle of America's food basket. (Think fresh fruit, vegetables, beef...)
    - Short drive to mountains (skiing, backpacking...), ocean (beach, kayaking, fishing, boating...)
    - Quiet neighborhoods
    - Great restaurants.
    - Beautiful wimmins.
    - Bicycle friendly, both off and on road.

    The bad:
    - Liberals.
    - Stupid gun laws.
    - Idiot drivers.
    - Illegal aliens.
    - Earthquakes (although I have yet to really experience one...).
    - Smelly hippies.
    - Over priced houses / rentals.
    - Poor road design.
    - Snotty, stuck up wimmins.
    - Vegans!

I hate to leave this area, since all the things I enjoy are so close and readily available. But the anti-gun, bankrupt idiotic way this state is being run... I just can't take it anymore. So I am looking for a job in Montana, Idaho... maybe Oregon areas. :wavey:

I live within two hours of the beautiful Oregon coast, the gorgeous Cascade mountain range, and the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge.....three places I dearly love. We have acceptable firearms laws (Class 3, suppressors, and shall issue), and an overall friendly population (at least where I'm from)

The bad: Property tax is pretty high, WAY too many illegals, and the liberals who condone them, and the weather.....I'ts not as bad as people say, but it could be better!
