A post I made in another thread got me to wondering if any agency out there issues a worse sidearm than I have to use. We currently have S&W Gen1 or 1.0 or original whatever you want to call them M&Ps in 9mm. I don't like them much. So, I am wondering if anyone admits to having worse. Although I also have to say these are a upgrade. We were using Ruger P89s in DAO variety till a couple years ago.

My last one was a Colt 1991. I added a beavertail, ambi safety, and short trigger. Oh, and the staked on sight got loose so I sent the slide to Novak's and they put on night sights.

Gen 4 Glock 22 with a mandatory Surefire X300U w/ grip switch. 180gr Federal Tactical Bonded.

Good setup but most guys would prefer to go 9mm at this point

I left in 1999, was carrying a S&W 4506. I would have likely transitioned to a Glock 22 or 23 within 2-3 years due to S&W discontinuing the 3rd Gen line at about that time.

M&P 2.0 9mm with orange HD sights and a TRL-1. We transitioned from multiple options of Sig Classic series guns in multiple calibers. Our officers' qual scores and confidence went up, weight and learning curves were greatly reduced. Couldn't be happier.

I'm Plainclothes, in a city, and assigned to blend in and "mingle" while concealed in a T shirt, jeans... However, I'm forced to carry a Glock 21... Im a bigger guy and make it work. we're going to G45's in a few months.

G22.4 w/TLR-1 carrying 180gr Golden Sabers (I carry Bonded). For a handgun, it does everything fine, but I would likely choose something I shoot better, if given the opportunity.

BUG is a G27.3 carrying 180gr Ranger Bonded.

Absolutely no reason for carrying different ammo in the BUG except it’s what I grabbed first, out of my carry ammo pile.

    I carry a Beretta 92A1 with a TLR1-HL.
We can pretty much carry any decent 9,40 or 45 non-single action. We supply our own handguns.

Next time I switch it’ll likely be for something with a red dot.

My exact previous duty gun! Loved everything about it but the weight. I bought it during the trade in for our new M&Ps and it's the most accurate gun I own.

The other instructor and I completed low light training last week to familiarize everyone with their WMLs on the pistols and further their training with same on the rifles. [IMG][IMG]

    Gen 4 17 with TLR1HL. 147gr HST.

Not the biggest fan of 9mm for duty but not my choice.

I so wish I hadn’t gotten sick and could have came to your agency.

Glock 22.1 Surefire X300U Winchester Ranger 165gr. Smith and Wesson M38 carrying some Remington JHP.

Off duty Glock 23.3 with Streamlight TLR-1HL with Winchester Ranger 180gr just cause I had a stockpile of it from my old job.

S&W M&P40 (1.0). I love the thing. To each his own I guess.

Before that I had a S&W 4043. I didn't care for it, but never had a problem with it.

Yes, that's an upgrade from the Rugers for sure. I don't see anything wrong with the M&P. Some people even prefer them to Glock. I'd mainly object to the caliber, but 9mm pea shooters is what all the cool kids are doing these days, so everybody else will imitate.
