Getting married in May and wondered what everyone else has given their new bride as a wedding gift.

With a few of the other threads about how much weddings cost and what good groomsmen gifts were, I figured this should be covered also. Besides, I have no friggin clue at this point.

My wife and I agreed beforehand not to exchange gifts, since we couldn't afford to at the time (on top of rings, the wedding itself, etc).

You're getting married, ain't that gift enough?

To keep my wife from going to the laundromat I gave her a washer and dryer. I also threw in a trash compacter. Nothing like being practical in a romance.

+1 The wedding cost us about $15,000, not including a weeklong honeymoon.

Were the appliances white to match the dress?

Ours wasn't nearly that much...but we didn't even have a honeymoon (she had to be back to nursing school the next day, and I had to be back to work). Even going out of our way to keep the whole thing low key, comfortable, small, and inexpensive, we didn't have the money to sling around, or felt a need to do so, to buy each other anything expensive.
