Yes I meant compared to the other FMJ calibers.I guess the way I see it, there are so many better options in just about every application, I can't think of why, except, no other choice. FMJ's have so many marginal attributes, they go through flesh in a very streamlined manner (mostly leaving a smaller than caliber hole in their wake). They tend to steer very weird courses. Sometimes that trait can be fortuitous (Jack Ruby comes to mind), sometimes less than desirable. In any case, the shooter has less control over where it is going to end up than just about any other option.
If a jhp doesn't expand it penetrates just like hardball..380 JHP from a pocket gun often doesn't have enough velocity to expand. Hardball penetrates well and feeds better.
He said trust in the context of being an adequate self-defense round.Trust? For what exactly?
What did you save? 5-10 bucks a magazine? Treat yourself to an ice cream cone with the savings, because you should always skimp on self defense. Does it feed in your hi point? That I can have decent SD expectations with FMJ amo, and not have to feel like I need premium HP ammo for defense.

My comprehension skills must be lacking when he said what round do I trust I took it to me functional reliability. The OP could better phrase the question to others besides him know what he's asking.
My LE son tells me all the guns he takes off people are loaded with FMJ with exception of stolen guns loaded with HP at time they were stolen.Thousands and thousands of dead folks pass through the morgue with FMJ target ammo being the last thing to pass through their minds. I trust it to penetrate and hit a vital organ or spine more so than the Federal HST I have loaded in the G26 and LCP.
