    Not to hijack another thread.

Being into milsurps at one time. I got a Swedish Mauser and was greatly impressed with the 6.5x55mm. As a reloader I figured the powder I used for .30-06 would be a good choice and it turned out to be great. 5 shot groups at 100 yards were as small as 0.75 inch. IMR 4350 was my choice under Speer 140 grain bullets.

I did some machine work on a friend's 6.5x55. He carried it to Minnesota and killed the biggest deer of his life. Grossed in the mid 170s.

My biggest attraction right now is the .338 Lapua in a Sako TRG42.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

9mm. It's just right for almost everything I want to do. I really enjoy loading and shooting it.

.40 S&W. It's the perfect combination of pistol round options. Hard hitting with high capacity, without too much muzzle blast or recoil.

But just an attraction. Don't want to afford what it cost to feed it.

It would scare me not to have something a wee bigger than a .308 for moose.

308 150gr federal bullet in my M1A SOCOM (16" barrel) works great, one or two shots. Shots are in neck or head, doesn't ruin too much of the meat. I only had one monster bull a few years ago the rest were 3 to 5 year old's.

That. I have been carrying a G23 forever. I bought a G30 last year to have something different. I don't carry it, though. I get no additional muzzle energy and lose three rounds per mag.

    At least with a .38 I don't lose 20% of my brass.

    I want a 6.5mm-284 or a 6.5mm Creedmoor. No wait, I want both.

Bullet design is more important than caliber with in reason. You can do a lot with a good bonded bullet.

I'm obsessed with the .32acp. I reload it and have more guns in this caliber than any other....5 of them.

I carry 9mm but I really like .32 and the guns that use it.

The .38 Special in an old Model 10 just has a dignity all it's own.
