I am wondering what the factory night sights are that come on the newer glock models?
They are Trijicon NS's.
GLOCK factory night sights = GLOCK made housings, with Mepro tritium inserts.
Also available from GLOCK right now are Trijicons.
so one person thinks trijicon and one mepro?
When you order a new GLOCK, it can come with any of these sights:
GLOCK fixed plastic sights
GLOCK fixed steel sights
GLOCK adjustable sights
GLOCK night sights
Trijicon night sights
GLOCK's factory brand night sights are made my Mepro.
Oh, ok. So the one's that come stock that say Glock on them are actually just Glock parts with Mepro inserts right?
You can get either those, or Trijicons on a new GLOCK, from GLOCK.
Which ones have better between the two? This may be just a matter of opinion but which do you prefer? Thanks again
Yep, stirring the pot on this one.
I like the GLOCK factory night sights over the Trijicon night sights.
The inserts are a tad larger on the GLOCKs.
Trijicon has had some quality control issues as of late, where they have been making the base of the rear night sight too wide, and it has to be filed to fit in the slide. I read about alot of people tearing up their sight tools, and having to shave on the Trijicons lately, and then I did a set for someone, and sure enough, it was too wide.
Not that big of a deal though, especially if you are getting them on the gun, not buying them and having them installed.
The one thing everyone is about to attack the GLOCK night sights for is this:
The GLOCK front night sight is staked on, whereas the Trijicon front night sight is bolted on.
Theoretically, if you remove the front GLOCK night sight, it is damaged and cannot be re-used.
If it comes off, GLOCK should and certainly will replace it for free. Worst case scenario, the front sight costs $25.
That said. I have the GLOCK factory night sights on both of my duty weapons.
My G22 is my primary and my G27 is my backup. Both have GLOCK factory night sights, neither have had an issue with them. if they are installed correctly they won't have a problem. I have also installed them on several other officer's guns, as well as some friends of mine.
Nothing against Trijicon, alot of people love them, I just prefer the GLOCKs myself.
Thanks GSD17, much appreciated!
Well my Trijicon front site is staked on.
I like the factory night sights on my GLOCKs too!
