lol I think that's a cheating answer.
Great weather, awesome food, no state income tax, there's much more that I'm drawing a blank on right now.....
its not california, wisconsin or maryland
Once you come here you will never want to leave. There are so many things that I love about the Great State of Texas. Most of all I think the people make it the best State in the Union. And we can fly our flag as the same height as the American Flag. God Bless Texas.
Because we have more counties than Alaska has people.

Simply because it's Texas.
I'm a native... If you're native and don't think it's the best state, something is wrong with you.

- No state income tax
- Lots of great public lands to explore and tons of recreation opportunities
- The food (BBQ Brisket, Tex-Mex, Gulf Seafood)
- The different cultures that get along and have for 100+ years (Czech, German, Mexican, Anglo, Texicans)
- Fantastic history

There are so many things...

This list would take all night.
North, South, East, West and Central Texas !!!

We got it all.
....................... the women
Lonestar beer!
Shiner Beer (Shiner Black in particular).
No state income tax.
Reasonable (not perfect but better'n a lot of places) laws.
Lots of variety if you like hot humid weather...
The Barnett Shale deposit...
Dinosaur tracks (google up Dinosaur Valley)
Houston (if you like Nasa stuff and swamps)...
I must respectfully disagree.

Shiner Bock!
Shiner is great stuff. Have you ever tried Rahr ? They brew right out of Ft. Worth and have a few different varieties, all of them are very good.

Haven't tried it...but I will :)

I don't drink but on occasion. I like to visit Fort Worth, so perhaps I'll look it up on the next trip.
The best thing about living in Texas is, no matter what you are talking about, the conversation always reverts to beer.

You know it! As the 'ole shootin' range saying goes "Hold my beer and watch this!"
Great things about Texas?

The history

The friendly people

The overall conservative attitude

The gun-friendly culture ( if you can afford it...you can own it in Texas)

The landscape: we have a little of everything (except a frozen tundra...but who the hell wants that?)

The music: we have a thriving music scene...better country than Nashville!

The food: name it..we have it

Shiner, ST. Arnolds and Cellis beers!

Tito's Handmade Vodka!

Our state parks and other outdoor activities

Unique festivals and celebrations nearly year round

The fact that many different cultures live here and somehow everyone gets along very well.

We have a state pride that other states really don't have.

There are other things but these are the main ones that come to mind. I have been to many other states and several countries and they're interesting and pretty...but this is home and always will be!

OK, history check... Anyone else remember the "Ice House and Pistol range" in the mid-90s just east of 249 on Beltway 8 in Houston?

I don't recall if they were directly part of the same business but they were RIGHT next to each other, perhaps even attached.

Ahh, the good ole days...... :)
