I dont have much ammo but just got my taxes back, I want to buy some ammo but not sure which would be more important to have more of. I need ammo for my AR-15 and my Glock 23. Which one should i buy about 500-1000 rounds for? I currently have about 700 rounds for the AR-15 and 50 rounds for my glock 23. I know i need more ammo for the G23 but what should i buy the bulk of it for? Thanks.

G23--- For me, it is impossible to stock up. I'd need 10,000 rounds in the closet per gun/caliber. I can easily shoot 3,000 rounds in a weekend if I could afford it. The other night I shot 100 rounds in 12 mins.

Wal-mart has good prices on Federal Champion .40. About $13.50 a box I believe.

ive been buying the 100 round boxes of Remington UMC hollow points at $32 a box of 100 pretty decent price for HP's. or the WWB or Blazer in .40 all from Walmart. I almost never(other then .22LR) shoot over 50-100 at a time so im good. I try to keep 500 or so on hand.

I really like the UMC .40 hollowpoints, too. And they make great brass for reloading!

Stock up on .40, there are some decent deals out there right now. I have a good stash of 5.56, and usually buy what I'm going to shoot, and save my stash. When I take the AR to the range, I usually pick up the $40 a hundred Federal from W.Mart.

But if you can, Id suggest you get set up to reload with that tax money. It doesnt cost that much to get started.
"Give a man a box of Wal mart ammo, he gets to shoot for a day, get him to relaod, he can shoot for the rest of his life"...or something like that...

700 round of .5.56 for one AR is not too bad at all.

50 round for a G23 is pathetic

Get thee to a Walmart and buy them out of .40.

Then go to a real gunshop and buy some quality Self defense .40 ammo.

I think 1000 .223 and 500 .40 is a good goal to shoot for. I also like to have at least 4 mags for your handgun and 8 for your AR.
