Got the first 1080 rounds of spam can 5.45 today. I had never seen a 5.45 round in person. That is a wicked looking round!

Ha! I ordered 21,600 rounds last night. No, that is not a typo. It worked out to about $131 per 1,000 rounds after shipping. That should keep me shooting for a few years. And yes, it is a nasty little cartridge.

The 5.45x39mm IS one neat looking little ctg. I've owned quite a few AK's but only one 74, it was a pretty cool gun it's just at the time 5.45 was a lot more expensive the 7.62 so I sold it and got back into a 7.62. Looks like things have changed a bit over the last few years though.

The 5.45 is a nasty little round. Russia's answer to the 5.56. It also shares some similar ballistics and it's known to tumble on soft targets.

UPS gal, actually. She wasn't particularly happy about 3000 rounds of .308 ammo. I can't wait to see her unload 21,600 rounds of 5.45 ammo.

Can you use standard 5.56MM PMags with 5.45?

    Corrosive primers, right?

I don't think standard 5.56 mags will work, the 5.45 is a bit fatter ctg. Also, I don't think it's corrosive primed but just to be safe I'd use Ballistol for cleaning or at least some Windex with Ammonia D to kill it just in case.

Hrmm I think we have found the clue. FedEx guy had to bring me 8 pantoon boat bench seats and bases. Fill his truck UP! Me and Dad helped him unload them but it still took a while.
