I have a kimber Pro Carry II. It is my first 1911 I have had it for about 6 months now. I have been hearing that the series II's were sub par? I was a die hard Glock guy before I got this gun now I can't hardly stand to shoot my old favorite anymore the G21 SF. I also have a G30 and a G27. The feel of the 1911 is so much more to my liking than the double stacks. So anyway I want another one. My question is which one? I have around $1200 to spend. I am not looking for a carry gun ( I already have one) I want a full size one. I am thinking I might want to start competing. Can you guys turn me towards any sites selling ready to go quality 1911's in my price range?

I don't want to start any fights with anyone who loves their Glock. I used to love mine I understand.

I bought a SS TRP for my first 1911, I love it. The only thing I would change on it would be the front strap 20lpi is a little rough. I smoothed mine down just a bit.

Every once in a while, you can run across a nice, Les Baer, Premier II, for about that price, otherwise, I'd go with an STI Trojan.

Try a Dan Wesson Valor or Springfield TRP.

Wow, those are fantastic guns. I really like the Valor. Does anyone know where is the best place to buy one. Any online places to buy used? Does Dan Wesson have a web site? I couldn't seem to find one.

For $1200 you can DW Heritage. I don't have one but I do have two CBOBs and I love them. Regardless of which 1911 you get, make sure you get an original series 70. I am not saying it for anyother reason but for reliability. A gun needs to be simple, a 1911 on it's original design is simple. Just remember the following, you get what you pay for! Go cheap, you will get cheap, not saying that you should go and spend more than $1500 in a 1911, $1200 will get you a very nice gun.

TRP. The best $1300 I spent on something that didn't run on gas!

Thats a good price for a decent TRP. I paid $1199 for a brand new one & that was a great price. I was at Jim's guns yesterday & they had a NIB TRP for $1565. So I think a grand is a price I would pay for that gun.

I have to throw in my two cents for the Valor. It is one excellent shooting, and looking, 1911.

There are a couple used ones for sale right now, and you should be able to pick one up for around $1200, if you are patient. It will be well worth the wait.
