So, I’m on Buds website and I come across the SA 1911 RO Elite Operator in 45ACP. This gun used to be 900-1000, but now sells for $640. I get that it has a rail, and that’s not everybody’s thing, especially 1911 guys. And, there’s a model in 10mm, which of course is awesome. But, did the bottom really fall out on this gun, or is there something I don’t know?

Sounds to me that if it's a gun you've been watching and for some reason they drop the price that much you should jump on it. I think the only thing you're "missing" is the ability to pull the trigger

I’m not all that impressed with the RO line. I bought one early on, a slightly different model than this one, and it could not group as well as my Ruger. I had 6 different people shoot each at a few different range sessions to verify it wasn’t me or the ammo I used that day. It wasn’t. I eventually traded it off.
But still, $640 for a 1911 with forged frame and slide seems like a damn good deal.

Look into the new Ronin before you buy.

That’s actually what I was looking for on buds. Better name, classic style, hopefully better accuracy.

Still, are you aware of any reasons the RO Elite Operator (I hate that name) is priced that way?

My guess is that the 1911 market has hit saturation. Now that Ruger is offering a decent 1911 with decent upgrades at a good price, the rest are either better than the Ruger, or yesterday's lunch.

Not selling well, saturated market, has rail would be my guesses. Or they lowered it to be in a different price range from the Ronin. Looks like you can get a new one from grabagun for $614 right now :jumpingjacks:

I’m actually hoping the Ronin has better QC. When the 10mm RO came out I was looking high and low, locally. Finally found one and was disappointed at the fit - the slide extended from the back of the frame more than 1/16 of an inch, and probably closer to 1/8. I had to double check to make sure the slide wasn’t stuck slightly open. That moment kind of turned me off to SA budget 1911s. But, for anyone that’s been looking, this seems like a steal.

I was seeing this today on Buds. Yesterday that gun was 850.
I almost jumped on it. I am looking for a railed 1911.
Same thing going on with a Colt Special Combat Govt. I am seeing it for 1350. Normally it is closing on 2K.

The deal is...its a good deal!
I think you should jump on it! :)

Gun manufacturers are becoming like car manufacturers now. They heavily discount the old ones to move them quickly, to make room for the new ones.

Ehhh. I have the 1911s I want. The Ronin is interesting, but we’ll see.

Prices are the softest I've ever seen. It's not difficult to find like new Wilsons or Browns for under $2K. Pretty hard to sell a new $1500 Kimber when you can get so much more.

Those puppies sold out fast. An hour after I posted earlier, they were gone.

That was a good deal. I was tempted, but I’m don’t buying budget 1911s. I decided a while ago that I would rather have 1 awesome 1911, than two or three budget ones.

I’m currently looking at the Dan Wesson Discretion. If I bought the SA 1911 RO Elite Operator (Good Lord I hate that name), it would have taken $600 from my budget for the Dan Wesson.

Yeah, I'm seeing lots of Dan Wessons, especially the old VBob (not the new gross one) for under $1000-1300 the market has to be a bit soft these days.

Then again I saw a few Wilson CQB for like $2500 on buds the other day, good deal
